Another Battle 10K course PB!

Jessica ran three minutes quicker than her previous best on the course and is now eight minutes faster than she was two years ago.

That’s a huge improvement and a brilliant example of what consistent training can achieve over time.

Progress isn’t always instant. Jessica has kept working, building her fitness and returning stronger each time.

A thoroughly deserved result. Well done, Jessica!

Race win and a new 10K PB for Ashley Vora! 🥇🏆

Ashley powered around a hilly Battle 10K course in 33:13, taking the overall win and beating his previous fastest 10K time.

A brilliant performance on a course that certainly doesn’t hand out quick times easily.

Strong racing, another PB and a thoroughly deserved place at the top of the podium.

Congratulations, Ashley!

Another Battle 10K course PB!

A brilliant run from Tom Hilder, finishing in 42 minutes and taking 90 seconds off his previous time on the course.

That’s a big improvement on a challenging route and a great reward for the work Tom has been putting into his training.

Well done, Tom smashing progress!

Two runners. Two course PBs. One brilliant morning at Battle 10K.

A huge well done to Bianca and Carly, who both produced their fastest times on the Battle 10K course.

Battle is never an easy 10K, so seeing them turn consistent training into strong race-day performances was fantastic.

Course PBs don’t happen by accident. They come from showing up, putting in the work and trusting the plan when race day arrives.

Brilliant running, Bianca and Carly. What a result!

How quickly should you increase your running distance?

There is no single answer that works for every runner.

Your current fitness, recent training, running experience, recovery and weekly routine all matter.

Increasing too quickly can leave you feeling exhausted and make training difficult to maintain. Build gradually, pay attention to how your body responds and allow easier weeks when needed.

Consistency will usually take you further than trying to rush the process.

Save this post for your next training block.

Nearly two years of coaching. Some serious progress.

When Ashley first started working with me, his PBs stood at:

5K – 16:40
10K – 36:40
Half marathon – 1:17
Marathon – 2:58

Since then, Ashley has produced:

🏃 15:57 5K PB
🏃 33:36 10K PB at Romney Marsh, finishing 5th
🏃 34:12 at Chichester 10K
🏃 1:12:34 at Paddock Wood Half Marathon
🏃 1:14:25 course PB at Hastings Half Marathon, finishing 8th
🏃 26:52 at the Hastings Five Mile Race, finishing 5th
🏃 2:44 marathon PB in Barcelona

That’s 43 seconds off his 5K, more than three minutes off his 10K, over four minutes off his half marathon and 14 minutes off his marathon.

Ashley already had plenty of ability. The goal was to add structure, consistency and a personalised running plan that could keep moving him forwards.

The work continues, but this is a brilliant set of results to celebrate.

What is the hardest part of returning to running after a break?

For many people, it is accepting that they cannot immediately start where they left off.

Fitness can be rebuilt, but trying to force the pace too early often makes the return feel harder than it needs to be.

Start with manageable sessions, allow recovery and measure progress over several weeks rather than after every run.

Most importantly, do not compare your first week back with your strongest running period.

A generic running plan cannot see how your week is going.

It does not know that work became hectic, your child was unwell or you barely slept before your scheduled long run.

Personalised running coaching allows the plan to change when life changes.

Sessions can be adjusted, training can be moved and the overall goal can stay on track without treating one difficult week as a failure.

That support and accountability can make training feel far more manageable.

Get in touch if you need a running plan that works around your schedule.
