Introducing EPT's supported rider Lily Buckle and her super horse Charlie:

Charlie is a 9-year-old, 17hh Irish Sport Horse who I have owned since he was 4 years old. Over the last five years, I have slowly produced him alongside completing my Master’s degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy.

As a veterinary physiotherapist, I am passionate about taking a horse-first approach to training and competition. Charlie’s wellbeing is always my top priority, so I closely monitor his physical health and ensure he has a varied lifestyle, balancing schooling, jumping, hacking, turnout, and appropriate rest to keep him both physically and mentally happy.

Following a minor injury a few years ago, we took the time to allow him to recover properly and have gradually brought him back into work. We are currently competing at 1.10m and are enjoying building back up together.

One of the reasons I love Equine Thermal Imaging is that it allows me to monitor Charlie’s previous injury site, as well as identify any areas of compensatory discomfort before they become larger issues. Having regular thermal imaging assessments throughout training and competition season provides an additional layer of monitoring, helping me make informed decisions and keep Charlie feeling his best.

Our plans for this year are to continue progressing confidently at 1.10m, enjoying our competitions, and ensuring Charlie remains happy, healthy, and performing at his best. vetphysio

A growing number of our clients are having their horses routinely scanned to monitor soundness. Thermography can pick up asymmetry that can contribute to lameness later in a horses life. When we scan sound horses we get thermically symmetrical images. All our Full Body Scans also include a video assessment from Dr Kate Granshaw.

We scan all types of horses, a thermography scan can be used for routine monitoring, it aids poor performance/lameness evaluations and is a great tool for early detection and preventative care.
