Hartlepool U15s Girls
07.05.26: Home vs South Tyneside

Tonight’s fixture against a very strong South Tyneside team with a squad depleted by injury and illness was always going to be a tough assignment and so it proved with Tyneside running out as comfortable winners in the end.

Despite this the Hartlepool team were able to give a good account of themselves and gain good experiences testing themselves at a high level against a very talented squad.

Lots of positives to take from the game including a very evenly contested opening 30 minutes before the opposition’s passing game began to take its toll on tired legs. The effort and commitments was fantastic throughout, however, and once more something to be proud of.

Plenty of notable performances including Connie R at the back, tireless energy from Grace M, Elynn H in midfield, and a strong and committed display from Lili M. Player of the Game went to Mia P, who was a threat throughout with her pace and bagged two well taken goals. Congratulations also to Tilly, Rebecca and Carmella in making their debuts.

Thanks as always to our sponsors, The Phone Shop and DCD Teamwear, High Tunstall school for hosting and all of the parents and supporters from both teams who attended the match.

Both teams started well with some good attacking football, but it was English Martyrs who took the lead early on, they then missed a couple of chances to further their lead, however English Martyrs were indebted to their GK who stopped a 1:1 attack with a fantastic save.
Half time 1-0
Very tight second half with English Martyrs having most of the ball but Manor trying to play on the counter attack. Manor attack with pace and a great effort rebounds off the bar. Another free kick from Manor is drilled in the area and an unfortunate own goal to level the score. Game ends 1-1 and straight penalties. With Manor missing their 1st penalty, a ruthless English Martyrs scored all 5 to win the game.
