There’s always a silver lining… πŸ’™

Jetstreamer Wendy has had a frustrating couple of months after a knee injury put a stop to running and left her wondering whether her racing season might be over.

But then she discovered Aquabike! πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

Aquabike combines the swim and bike sections of a triathlon, but without the run. It’s a championship discipline in its own right and is growing in popularity every year - perfect for athletes who can’t run because of injury, or simply prefer swimming and cycling.

Rather than pulling out of her remaining races this summer, Wendy was able to switch them all to Aquabike, and on Sunday she completed the New Forest Middle Distance Aquabike, with a 1.9km swim followed by a 90km bike. πŸ™Œ

And it turns out she absolutely loves it!

β€œIt does take a little getting used to. There’s no run to tackle after the bike, you’re congratulated on finishing as you enter T2, and running down a finish chute in bike cleats feels slightly odd! πŸ˜‚β€

But what started as a way of keeping Wendy racing while injured may just have opened up a whole new chapter.

Could Aquabike be her new event? πŸ‘€πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

πŸ… Medal Monday πŸ…

Three of our Jetstreamers took part in the Dorney Sprint event on Wednesday, with Michelle and Karin completing the triathlon and Wendy taking on the Aquabike.

The water was a very pleasant 21.8Β°C, making wetsuits optional, and for once the wind at Dorney was unusually kind to us - which made for a speedy bike section! πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

With over 200 competitors and a pretty gnarly mass swim start, there was plenty of competition out there.

All three competed in the 60–64 age group and, if there had been age-group podium presentations, we’d have had a Jetstream clean sweep - 1st, 2nd and 3rd! πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯‰

Not a bad Wednesday evening! πŸ’™

They did it! πŸ™ŒπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

107km through the Chilterns, over 1,000m of climbing and just over 5 hours of cycling - and they all stuck together from start to finish. πŸ’™

Looking deservedly tired, but still smiling after a fantastic effort. 😁

Great riding everyone - what a way to spend a Bank Holiday Monday!

πŸ… MEDAL MONDAY πŸ…

A huge well done to four of our Jetstream ladies who completed the Thames Marathon yesterday, swimming an incredible 5.5km along the River Thames to Marlow! πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

The water temperature was a perfect 20.5Β°C, so wetsuits were on and conditions were great.

The first 1.8km was a fairly slow section, but the next 1.5km had a lovely bit of flow, helping them fly through it in just 30 minutes! The final 2.2km was a little tougher as tired shoulders started to kick in, but the beautiful views along the river heading into Marlow certainly helped. πŸ’™

What a fantastic experience and such a privilege to be able to swim this distance along the Thames.

A big thank you to Henley Swim for another brilliantly organised event, with plenty of kayakers out on the water guiding everyone safely along the route. πŸ‘

5.5km done and some very well-earned medals! πŸ…πŸ’ͺ

Huge congratulations to our Jetstreamer Bhavini Bhavini Patel on a fantastic performance at the London T100 last weekend! πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Taking on the demanding 100km format on a very hot day - a 2km swim, 80km bike, and 18km run.

Bhavini crossed the finish line in an impressive 6:13:07.

This race was an important stepping stone in preparation for the big one next month - Ironman Tallinn. A strong performance and great confidence-builder ahead of what promises to be an exciting race in August.

Good luck in Tallinn, Bhavini - everyone at Jetstream will be cheering you on! πŸ’™πŸ‘

A huge congratulations to Jetstream’s Emily, who had an incredible race at the Outlaw Original on Sunday! πŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Emily finished 5th overall female, 1st in the 45–49 age group, and was crowned British Long Distance Champion! πŸ₯‡πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

But what made the day even more special was that her daughter, Ellen was also racing in the Sprint distance. She finished 10th overall and 1st in her age group! πŸ₯‡

What an amazing family achievement and a day they’ll never forget. Congratulations to you both - everyone at Jetstream is very proud! πŸ’™

Huge congratulations to our Jetstream ladies who took on and smashed the Club to Pub swim on Sunday! πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰πŸ‘

The Club to Pub is a brilliant annual 1.5km open-water evening swim in Henley-on-Thames, starting at Henley Rowing Club and finishing in style at the Angel on the Bridge pub 🍻✨

Distance: 1.5km total (a 400m upstream warm-up, followed by a fun 1100m downstream glide)

Finish rewards: A well-earned bottle of local beer and a medal that doubles as a bottle opener πŸ…πŸΊ

What a fantastic evening on the water - full of smiles, teamwork, and open-water fun. Well done, ladies! πŸ’™πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

Huge congratulations to our Jetstreamers who completed the Dunwich Dynamo last weekend! πŸš΄πŸ‘

The Dunwich Dynamo is a free, 112-mile overnight ride from East London to the Suffolk coast.

As if cycling through the night wasn’t enough… they then turned around and cycled back! πŸ’ͺπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ
