💜My daughter Jess has made it through to the finals of the favourite Coach ⚽️category in the Mumbler Awards

🫶🏻Anyone who knows Jess will know how much she puts into her coaching and how much she cares about the young people she works with. She’s only 20, so to be recognised like this already is pretty special.

When schools allow students to wear PE uniforms all day on PE days, everyone benefits...

So why isn’t sport prioritised for girls?!🤷‍♀️

New research from Sky has revealed...

🚧Boys spend 1.4 hours more per week playing sport than girls – that’s the equivalent of 280m hours per year across the UK

📉 Girls are facing a postcode lottery with those in urban areas missing out on 100 minutes of exercise each week

😔 In areas with the lowest levels of sports provision, the participation gap is 46% wider than in places with the highest provision

The research also found that increasing teenage girls’ access to sport could save the NHS £73 million.

This is exactly why we created our Big Sister initiative, which provides free and discounted gym memberships and girls-only sessions to teenage girls in selected leisure centres.

Our ambition is for Big Sister to be available in leisure centres across the UK, ensuring that girls everywhere can access the support, opportunities and environments they need to stay active throughout their teenage years.

Sport transforms lives. We can’t gatekeep it from half the population.

Today, we swapped exercise for mindfulness and used the World Cup as a way to explore positive self-talk and mindfulness.

I’m massively passionate about encouraging girls to exercise, but I’m just as passionate about teaching them that rest isn’t something they have to earn. It’s okay to pause, switch off and recharge. Looking after your mind is just as important as looking after your body.

The 2026 World Happiness Report, produced by Oxford University and the UN, has found that wellbeing among under-25s is declining across English-speaking countries.

This trend is most pronounced amongst girls and heavy social media use has been associated with lower life satisfaction.

Why does this matter to us?

Put simply, when kids are stuck inside on their phones, they’re not outside doing sport and exercise.

This not only impacts their physical health but can have a devastating impact on mental health and wellbeing, as this new research shows.

We need an intervention.

That's why we want to see more support and investment in projects that get women and girls moving and finding joy in sport

That includes our Big Sister initiative, which provides teenage girls with free and discounted gym memberships and access to girls-only sessions.

45% of girls tell us they don’t have the ‘right’ body shape for sport😪

A recent blog on Netmums by Jen Barton Packer explores a new social media trend she’s worried about her daughters seeing.

The ‘Pilates princess’ trend idolises having a slim, toned frame and a flat stomach, with phrases like ‘Pilates body’ and ‘dream body’ receiving hundreds of thousands of views on platforms like TikTok.

Videos are often introduced with phrases like ‘How I maintain my dream body’ and ‘What I eat in a day to stay toned but not bulky’.

Don’t get us wrong, women should be able to share the joy they find in moving their bodies – that’s not the problem.

The problem is that the next generation of girls are being raised on content like this.

Content that promotes the idea that women and girls should look a certain way in order to be active and prioritises aesthetics over health.

Our charity exists to change that narrative.

To show girls that they belong in sport, no matter what their bodies look like.
