We’re so excited to have been approached by two amazing local venues to bring A.S Karate Academy to their communities — and even more excited to be opening the doors this September in Harlow and Brentwood! ❤️

For us, karate has always been about so much more than learning kicks and punches. It’s about creating a place where children can build confidence, develop focus, learn respect, get stronger and genuinely feel part of something.

To have local venues recognise what we’re building and invite our academy into their communities means a lot — and we feel incredibly lucky to now have the opportunity to bring everything A.S Karate Academy stands for to even more children and families.

🥋 BRENTWOOD — Tuesdays 5:30–6:15pm

🥋 More than just a grading syllabus.

Our A.S Karate Academy syllabus books follow the structure of the traditional Wado-Ryu Karate grading pathway, giving students everything they need to progress through their grades while developing a deeper understanding of what they’re learning.

Alongside clear grading requirements, they include detailed instructions and explanations, Japanese terminology with English translations, the history and principles of Wado-Ryu, and guidance to support students throughout their karate journey.

Because karate is about more than remembering what comes next. We want our students to understand what they’re doing, why they’re doing it and the tradition behind it.

Introducing two key figures of A S KARATE ACADEMY:

Meet our Academy Administrator, Debbie! 👋🥋

Many of you will already know Debbie, who has supported A.S Karate Academy behind the scenes from the very beginning.

Debbie brings a huge amount of experience within English karate, having previously worked as an administrator for the English Karate Federation and currently serving as an administrator for the British Karate Federation.

She will now be helping with the administration at A.S Karate Academy, including memberships, payments, gradings, events and general academy communications — so you may start hearing from her a little more often!

She is also, of course, my mum and has supported me throughout my entire karate journey, from competing internationally to coaching the England squad.

We’re very lucky to have her experience and support as part of the A.S Karate Academy team

Meet our Website and Systems Manager, Mark! 👋💻🥋

Mark works behind the scenes to keep the digital side of A.S Karate Academy running smoothly… practices karate himself! 🔵

As an IT specialist, web designer and website manager, he manages our website and the systems that make academy life easier for both families and the team.

This includes creating and managing our online contact forms, camp and course bookings, grading forms, welcome packs and the general back end of the website.

A lot of the things parents use online have been built, organised or maintained by Mark — even though most of his work happens quietly behind the scenes!

He is also, of course, my dad and has supported the academy from the very beginning.

We’re very lucky to have his knowledge and experience as part of the A.S Karate Academy team.
