REHAB IS JUST TRAINING WITH AN INJURY - they aren’t separate entities! A lot of people tend to think that injury rehab is something you do when you aren’t training and is a very static, boring, often sitting or lying down, isolated set of exercises prescribed to you to perform every other day 3 sets of 10 reps. Firstly, you will never progress without overload so if you keep performing the same exercises in the same manner for ANY type of training you will never end up progressing. There are always ways to alter intensity in training whilst also keeping them interesting, challenging and progressive. Even doing single leg training on an uninjured leg will have some benefits to the injured leg. Of course it’s important to follow the advice of your medical professional but don’t limit yourself and if you can also train other stuff then get on it!

This is the exercise part, but the daily cryotherapy, self massage, taping, compression, rest & diet are all part of recovery from an injury. I can manage this session 2/3 x per week as my knee still flares up from it but rest alone won’t do the job so provocative exercises have to be incorporated. Hopefully soon this will lead to me being able to handle more impact and progress onto more challenging single leg exercises. The journey continues...
