Are you trying to be perfect in everything you do?

When you start training, improving your nutrition and building a routine around them.

It's easy to think everything must be perfect in order for you to get results.

But that's not the case at all.

In fact chasing perfection can often be the catalyst that makes you give up.

As it's unsustainable and when you can't maintain that perfection, you fall off the wagon.

But missing one workout or eating out here or there isn't going to make f**k all difference down the line.

Those that get the best results are the ones that can make fitness fit into and compliment their lifestyle.

Not take away from it, make it more complicated and leave you feeling pretty miserable.

So instead of chasing perfection, chase consistency.

Being 80% consistent is more realistic, very achievable and proven to deliver results.

Oh and allowing you to keep doing the things you love and enjoy.

When you're starting something new or things begin to challenge you?

You're not to sure how to start, what you need to do or how to approach it.

That dreaded feeling of overwhelm soon comes over you, making you stressed and anxious.

You end up overthinking, trying to do too much and creating negative self talk which makes you feel like giving up.

But it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed, we all experience it as some point in our lives.

It comes with wanting to change as it's an emotion of growth.

The good news, there's a simple way to reduce the feeling of overwhelm.

Because without one you're not clear on your priorities, with no strategy and you're winging it.

If you're going to the gym (which may present a challenge in itself) and then making the session up as you go along?

You're going to increase the chances of you becoming overwhelmed, add in the lack of results and you give up.

You have to make it as easy as possible, so you can set yourself up to win.

Next time you begin to feel overwhelmed, take a moment to get clear on your priorities and create a plan of action.

That way you'll reduce or prevent feeling overwhelmed.

You may still feel it a little, but that's fine as it's a part of the growth and challenging yourself.

We all experience some form of stress every day.

A little stress is normal and much needed, as it's part of your fight or flight response.

But elevated levels of stress over long periods of time are not normal and very problematic.

These take a huge toll on the body.

You question why you've not been making any progress, as you've been nailing everything down to the tee.

But if you dig a little deeper, you're overlooking the daily things that could be holding you back.

Working long hours, taking on too much responsibility, training every day, poor sleep, putting yourself under constant pressure etc.

Whilst you could sustain all this short term, it soon becomes long term and that's where the problems start.

You'll become physically and mentally fatigued.

This will eventually lead you to burning out and having health issues further down the line.

When you look at it from a training perspective, it can be detrimental.

Training performance will reduce and your mood will be low, so poorer food decisions are made.

It will also lead to an increase of muscle breakdown and more inflammation in the body.

So if you want to make progress with your training and stay healthy long term, learn to manage your stress:

๐Ÿ›Œ Make sleep a priority.
โฐ๏ธ Schedule downtime.
๐Ÿ‘ฃ Go for a long walk.
๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ Start meditating.
๐ŸŒณ Get out in nature.

It sounds clichรฉ, but start making yourself a priority.

Give yourself the time to unwind, do the things you enjoy and that help you de-stress.

Your body and mind will thank you for it ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

I get it, I've been in your exact shoes and know how it feels.

How daunting and intimidating it can feel.

But unless you step outside your comfort zone...

You'll hold your growth back and allow those fears to deepen.

Yes, it's easier said than done.

It took me a while when I felt anxious to finally bite the bullet and start.

Trust me, once you complete that first session you'll feel so much better for it.

And although it'll help, you won't be full of confidence straight away.

But it won't be long, until you've built your confidence in the gym.

You'll start to feel comfortable on different bits of kit and won't worry about others in the gym.
