May Regatta

Our tiny Fareast 28R must have made quite an amusing sight on the start line of a 17 boat IRC1 fleet, the next smallest of which were 8 feet longer than us!

Once any observers had finished laughing, they'd have seen a complete mix of conditions. From light and fluky on Saturday to full on planing conditions on Sunday. Not the most successful weekend on the scoreboard for us, but a great deal of fun had by all and lots learned.

Thank you 2025!

A year of smiles, sends and a small amount of fishing with a big yellow net...

Some of our highlights from this year were:

- Racing alongside some of the top admirals cup competitors at a windy Easter Challenge.

- Some epic sends off the back of the island on the way to our best ever result in the .

- Our first experience of

Happy New Year to everyone who's helped to make it happen!

Looking forward to the 200th anniversary in 2026.

2025 ended with a grandstand finish up the green against the tide and a gun from the royal yacht squadron. Great way to finish off a challenging week!

We ended up a close 5th in the sportsboat class. Well done to Tigger, Derision and Crescendo who made up the podium. We also somehow came 12th in the equal seas trophy for mixed crews, sailing in a relatively small class helped us out there!

We definitely had some challenges this year with people trying new positions, last minute additions to the crew and mid-regatta illness to deal with. Thank you to and for joining us at short notice.

Cowes Week is always fun. Already looking forward to next year's bicentenary regatta!

2025 days 4, 5 and 6. It's continued to be a week of ups and downs. From getting free drinks and merch from the boat two days in a row to dropping the engine in the Solent on the way to the start (and subsequently having to sail back into the harbour when it inevitably wouldn't start), via a morning of crabbing from the sea wall in no wind. The top two places in the sportsboat class are pretty well sewn up (well done to Tigger and Derision), but there's a tight battle for the third spot on the podium. All to play for on the last day tomorrow!

The first two days of 2025 have given us a bit of everything. Saturday couldn't decide between northerly, westerly and nothing. Sunday made it's mind up and brought 20 knots from the south west. We've been dodging ships and pulling kites out of the water rather than winning races so far, but the first half of Sunday's race showed promising signs so it's still all to play for.

Racing resumes on Tuesday after an enforced lay day for storm Floris to come through.

Lots of fun last weekend at the July regatta. Glamour conditions all weekend and long, sunny days on the water. Not quite enough wind to plane until the very end of the day, so we were out the back of IRC1 most of the weekend, but we had a tight battle on corrected time with and at the back of the fleet for "best of the planing boats"!

regatta day 2 was a lot less hectic than day 1. Less breeze, a lot less chop and fewer errors from us! Lots of tide and traffic to contend with and courses with more upwind than down didn't help, but 6th and 11th in a 28 boat fleet were a decent return.

Perfect wind for a blast back to hamble rounded off the weekend nicely.

Back in summer series action next weekend!
