Match Report:
Haltwhistle Jubilee Eagles - 3
Burradon Juniors Blues - 2
A very good battle this morning with Burradon on a very heavy pitch. It was never going to be pretty and the boys had to dig deep to get a result. We started well, even with the pitch conditions we looked to move the ball well. It was Halty who broke the deadlock. Great work from Brooky on the right, who held the ball up well, rolled a pass to Chase who whipped a perfect ball into the box and Logan timed his run brilliantly before finishing it off with a first time finish into the bottom corner (1-0). That goal sparked Burradon into life and they started causing us a lot of problems with their intensity. A good ball down the channel was latched onto by the striker who connected with the ball perfectly and it flew into the top corner from outside the box to equalise. Burradon finished the half the better and Jigz did really well to react to deflected shot and kept it out with a superb save to keep the scores level. The half time whistle gave us a chance to regroup (1-1). Second half the boys rolled their sleeves up and raised the tempo. We looked to get on the front and the energy levels went up. The game became a proper battle and we competed a lot better. especially in midfield as both teams we're constantly fighting for the ball on the sticky pitch with some strong tackles. It needed a bit of magic to unlock their stubborn defence. Brooky, who worked hard all game to pressure they're back line, timed his run well before Alfie provided that magic we needed with a superb pass with the outside of his foot. The weight of the pass was perfect and Brooky took one touch before firing low past the keeper. But, the game was still very tight and our defending had to be excellent second half. Ben, Harry, Ewan and Jacob especially, dealing with their attacking threats really well. That good defending was then rewarded when we scored a 3rd. Brookys brilliant ball into Chase sent him through 1-1 with their keeper and he lifted the ball perfectly and into the corner (3-1). Ben turned into Maradona when he skipped past 3/4 players and nearly got assist of season, but the resulting effort just went wide of the post. But in fine Halty fashion, Burradon scored from a scramble in our box, to make the remaining 10 mins very nervy. The effort from Jack, Alfie, Chase, Logan, Freddie, Ollie and Dexter, who all had spells in midfield, was excellent and everyone worked tirelessly to take us over the line.
A cracking effort from everyone πͺ
