Great coverage for Steve Landon's fun day at the club in memory of his father Graham. The Herald devoted the whole page to that and the men's match against Crowborough played the same day.

We said goodbye to Tammy today at the Wealden Crematorium. There were 20 HTC members there and lots of tears as her three daughters and her brother shared memories. Her lovely doggie was there too, rudely interrupting the service a few times, which made everyone laugh and broke the tension.
After the service, Chris presented her brother Andrew with our condolence book, which he had a quick look through and was touched, thanking Chris and the club.
There was no official wake, but some members went on to the Gun pub in Gun Hill to raise a galss in dear Tammy's memory, as the family had suggested. ❤️

Just to let those who want to know, lovely Tammy's funeral is arranged for this Friday at 11 o'clock at the Wealden Crematorium. The family are happy for any of her friends from the Club to attend, asking that you don't wear black "as she would want something colourful and upbeat (like her)" or bring flowers, and there is no wake planned after the ceremony. They say she loved the Gun at Gun Hill if you wanted to meet there and raise a glass in her memory.

A great win for our men’s first team against their nemesis Crowborough. Usually always. Lose badly, but this time our boys won 4-0! 😆

Today's Herald with a report on our Bank Holiday Tournament and Bridget's 39th birthday! Pity I hadn't recovered the good photos when I submitted it. Hopefully will be in the Hailsham News in June.

It was Graham's wish to hold a private funeral, but his family and our committee have decided to hold a Memorial Tournament this Sunday, 31st May from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Graham's son Steve is a tennis coach, now living in Ireland. He is coming over specially, and we are organising a number of events including the following:

Junior Tournament
Fun Games for Juniors
Cardio for Juniors
Cardio for Adults
American Mixed Doubles Tournament for Adults

So, lots going on, whether you are a spectator or a participant; please come along to support us.

We will stop for strawberries & cream, cakes, cream teas, and the like, around 4pm, and of course we will have a toast to remember Graham.

We need to get an idea of likely numbers attending, if only to make sure we have enough wine for the toast, so please let us know if you are coming ([email protected], 07769 239240).

Mark your diaries for Hailsham Tennis Club's Open Day on 28th June. If you've ever wondered wether tennis is for you, that's the time to come down to the club on the Western Road recreation ground (behind the cricket pavilion) and have a bash! There will be rackets and balls and even somebody to hit with, so come down and see if you want to take advantage of the club's new member offer - half price annual subscriptions for your first year! 😃
