GTFC 3–0 Marske United Girls Blues
Today we hosted Marske United Girls Blues in a derby-day semi-final, with a place in the TJFA U14 Girls League Cup Final at stake.
The match began just as expected, with both sides eager to make an early breakthrough. Marske United came close to opening the scoring after clearing a GTFC corner, sending their striker through one-on-one. However, our ever-reliable goalkeeper Gracie L reacted brilliantly, making a brave save to keep things level.
Guisborough Town soon found their rhythm, playing some excellent football and moving the ball quickly to create space. This led to the opening goal, with Alice C-H calmly finishing into an open net.
The lead was doubled shortly after, as Maali M showed great composure. Latching onto a through ball, she coolly slotted home to make it two.
At the start of the second half, the importance of the next goal was clear. Following some impressive individual play from Evie A, she threaded a pass through to Mabel L, who did well to deliver a cross into the box. Darcie H was perfectly positioned to convert, scoring her 37th goal of the season.
The girls controlled much of the game and could have extended their lead further if not for some outstanding saves from the Marske United goalkeeper.
Marske United worked hard throughout and provided strong opposition. We look forward to facing them again next season.
The girls gave a complete performance today, both individually and as a team from defence to attack.
Every one of them played their part.
Now it’s on to the final for the Priorygirls. Having already secured the Division 1 league title, they’ll be aiming to add another trophy to their collection.

Mabel was excellent down the right wing today. She played with real positivity, and her creativity created plenty of opportunities for the team. She showed exactly what she’s capable of with her decision-making and composure throughout.
