A little yard update…

I haven’t had many updates to share recently, mainly because there honestly hasn’t been a huge amount happening! Between work, life and the time (and budget!) needed for some of the bigger jobs, things have been happening a little more slowly than I’d originally hoped.

But we’re getting there, one job at a time. Sometimes it’s the smaller things that make the biggest difference, and getting some paint on the stables has already made the place feel so much fresher.

The next big job on the list is new roofs for the stables, which will make a huge difference. Not least because I’m fairly sure the horses would appreciate the novel experience of being able to stand in their stables without getting rained on!

There’s still plenty I want to do, and lots of ideas for how I’d like the yard to develop. The aim is to eventually turn it into something really lovely and functional for everyone — horses, clients and humans alike.

One of the things I pride myself on most in my coaching is being there for my clients throughout their journey — whatever that journey may look like.

For me, coaching isn’t just about what happens during your lesson. It’s about getting to know you and your horse, understanding your goals and challenges, celebrating the little wins, and helping you work through the less straightforward days too.

Every horse and rider combination is different, and I really believe that good coaching should meet you where you are, rather than trying to fit you into a particular mould. My aim is always to create a supportive, positive environment where you feel listened to, understood and confident to keep learning.

So reading feedback like this means a huge amount to me. Knowing that my clients feel supported, not just as riders but as people, is exactly what I hope to achieve.

Yesterday marked one year since I packed up my life in Ireland and moved back to England.

I honestly can’t believe how much has happened in just 12 months. It’s been a year of rebuilding, meeting so many lovely new clients, reconnecting with familiar faces, and watching horses and riders make progress together.

Moving back was a big step, but it’s reminded me why I love what I do. Whether it’s helping someone ride their first leg yield, building confidence after a setback, or working towards competition goals, every lesson has been part of an incredible first year back.

A huge thank you to everyone who has welcomed me, trusted me with their horses, recommended me to others, and supported BL Dressage. It really does mean the world.

Here’s to another year of learning, improving, and helping more horse and rider partnerships. I can’t wait to see what the next 12 months bring.

I’m looking on behalf of a client for their next horse.

Ideally between 15.1hh and 16.1hh, preferably a mare, who is safe, sensible and happy to hack alone. The horse will mainly be used for hacking, sponsored rides and the occasional camp.

Preferably located in Lincolnshire or Norfolk, although the right horse further afield would be considered.

A knowledgeable, loving and long-term home awaits the right horse.

Really enjoyed a fascinating webinar last night exploring how technology can support coaching, and how it can be used to enhance the learning experience rather than replace it.

One of the things we looked at was the Coach Copilot app, which can provide instant lesson notes, feedback and progress tracking, giving riders something practical to refer back to between sessions.

I’m always keen to keep learning, developing my coaching and exploring new ways to help my clients get the most from their lessons, so it was a really interesting evening.

I’d love to know what you think – would using something like the Coach Copilot app during your lessons be of interest to you? I’d be really interested to hear your thoughts.
