💫Standout Swim – Evie (14yrs), 100m Breaststroke:
Evie qualified for SNAGS right at the end of the window and was seeded 22nd in her age group. She absolutely rose to the occasion — storming the heats, taking a huge 3.73 seconds off her entry time and booking herself a well‑deserved place in the final.
In the final she delivered another brilliant swim, battling it out in a tight finish for 3rd, 4th and 5th. Evie touched in 5th place, dropping a further 1.74 seconds to finish in an outstanding 1:21.33.
Not bad at all for your first ever SNAGS, Evie — what a performance.
💫Team Players of the Championships – Lois & Zoe:
We couldn’t pick just one — Lois and Zoe are joint winners of our Team Player of the Championships award.
Both girls stepped up when the team needed them most, filling reserve places in the 17&Over relays. Without them, those teams would have been withdrawn, and their commitment to the squad made all the difference.
Lois took on three reserve swims — including the 100m fly leg in the medley relay — and did it all with total willingness and a “whatever the team needs” attitude. That spirit alone sealed her place as a standout team player.
Zoe may have only been needed for one relay, but she wasn’t even in Aberdeen when the call came — she was in Brechin! Billy phoned late in the evening to say she was required at the pool the next morning, and without a single question she arranged to be on an early bus back up the road to make sure the team wasn’t left short. That level of dedication speaks for itself.
Two athletes who went above and beyond. Two absolutely worthy winners.
💫Brought the Biggest Smile – Our 11–13 Girls Relay Team:
Our 11–13 girls were an absolute joy to watch from start to finish. Cadhlea, Lauryn, Murrin and Nina arrived at the Championships bursting with energy, excitement and the biggest smiles — and they never once dimmed.
They embraced the team spirit completely, rocking their tutus and face paint, cheering everyone on, and soaking up every moment of their SNAGS experience. That relaxed, fun attitude carried straight into the pool too, where they smashed their entry times in both relay events.
A brilliant reminder of what team sport is all about — joy, friendship and giving it everything.
After the Championships our Head Coach, Billy Binnie, had this to say:
“On Saturday I boarded a rollercoaster that didn’t stop, didn’t slow down, it just kept going full speed ahead. By Wednesday when it came to an end, we had everything, incredible swims, excellent team support and swimmers that took their swims to a new level. Thanks to everyone for making my first snags as head coach so special”
Well done to everyone involved in our SNAGS 2026 journey… see you all again next year 😉
