Good evening everyonešŸ‘‹

I have decided to take a step back from MccannPersonalTraining at the moment. My main focus will be with online clients only. I have made this decision as I will be going into full time work and further education pretty soon.

It’s been an incredible 3 years and it’s not stopping completely. But I just want to thank everyone for coming along on the 121 ride šŸ˜†

From the 16th of November the trainerize app will be closed down and I will be moving on to a different way of coaching.

Online coaching will now be priced at £80 pcm !

I am sad to be leaving 121 behind but hopefully on to bigger and better things ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Week recap āœŒļø

I have been using app for training the past few weeks focusing on strength along side my own bits and bobs of cardio etc. really enjoying some structure again. Actually ran 3 times this week only 1 mile each but way out my comfort zone.

Made some delicious food, home made bread and pancakes. I get so excited week in week out to make fresh food from scratch it’s one of the things that relaxes me.

Had a lovely night out with one of my old clients on Saturday night, had a few drinks. Laughed and chatted while listening to terrible music.

Lastly I also took on a new little dog friend. Definitely a lot of work but isn’t she beautiful?

That’s been my week along with making changing to MccannPersonalTraining, work arrangements, life in general! New things to come āœŒļøšŸŒŸ

I want to talk about why your hating on the gym.

I hear it all the time.

ā€œI hate it here I’m just here to get skinnyā€
ā€œI just don’t feel comfortable hereā€
never see me step foot in a gymā€

Let’s talk gym confidence , most of the time that’s what it breaks down to.

Your not going to be confident in the gym on your first time there or even maybe you 100th time there but it’s getting the tools and guidance to feel more comfortable.

I feel like a lot of people have really negative connotations towards the gym. Constantly thinking it’s for weight loss , too loses weight , cardio etc etc. as soon as you change the mindset that the gym is for everyone and for any particular goal from staying fit to getting strong to rehabilitation.

Here’s a few tips and tricks for newbies going into the gym

- pick 1 body weight exercise and 1 machine exercise. That is all. Get comfortable with them. Then the next time you go pick 2 new exercises

-wear what makes you feel comfortable and empowered. Wether that a matching set or oversized baggy clothes

-have everything you need. The gym bag is essential. Spare clothes, gym equipment ; straps, belts, etc, sugar snack, a shaker(water bottle)

Weekend recap āœŒļø

Gym sessions , family time, spontaneous piercings and loads of coffee.

Been sure to have productive weekends wether that’s with family or work.

Having a structure to your weekends can make or break the week ahead. Setting yourself right and refreshing your body at the weekend instead of drinking aimlessly.

Homemade food , a few wins and loads of laughs is the way to go.

I preach about the importance of balance to my clients but sometimes this is balance. It doesn’t have to mean the balance between your work life and social life it can be the balance between your work like and your family time. Just as important or maybe more.

Training in the weekend has been a big help to me , something I used to avoid like the plaque. But getting a weekend session in almost just makes you feel instantly more in line. It will also help with your diet at the weekend. If your someone who tends to fall off the bandwagon at the weekend . Try pushing one of your sessions to a Saturday or Sunday it’ll give you a little bit more structure and you’ll be more likely to eat well āœŒļø

We are back baby

Monday morning 6am I had the first RT24 class.
The buzz from taking class again was epic and exactly what I needed.

the things I have learned from being a personal trainer is that you are making a or breaking someones day.

You have the power to change the mindset and mood of someone that day.
show up and give the positive energy.

It's hard not to feel buzzed after these classes.

Wholesome weekends

A great fun filled weekend enjoying some good food and great company.

It’s more than possible to go out and have fun over this festive period, one of the most busy for people. But there’s always a few things to take into consideration if your dieting during the winter months.

- calorie banking
If you know that you have some plans at the weekend using calorie banking throughout the week can be a great strategy to stay on plan

- think about maintaining instead of dieting ?
Is it extremely necessary for you to diet right now ? Could you possibly up your calories and enjoy food a little bit more ?

- prioritise
Make sure you priorities your sessions and eating good high protein, whole foods when you can.

Where is my own training at ??

Since the start of the year I’ve just enjoyed training no specific goals to get stronger , fitter or leaner.

Going to the gym and prioritising my time there was enough for me.

Now with taking classes at Prolife and brining the brand new RT24 I have absolutely fallen in love with conditioning and getting a sweat on.

My training usually looks like a 3-4 day split with around 45 mins to an hour in the gym. I’ll focus on compound lifts and progression and then finish off with explosive power movements such at a ground to over head (videos above).

Adding a little bit of size to my body would be nice in the coming months before 2023 so some goals have been added and mu priorities have been set šŸ’Ŗ.

Having goals to look like so and so or being as strong as another person might give you some extra motivation

But at the end of the day it’s you vs you.

Your mind
Your progress

Be proud of yourself for the small wins, be accountable for your own mistakes and keep pushing towards your goals

It’s more than that…

Having a personal trainer is more than just having the accountability, the push.

Having a Personal trainer is having a relationship with someone who will be there for you for everything, pull you up , work on your weaknesses and give you the drive to keep on going.

When you wonder why personal training is so expensive, you don’t see the things that go on behind the scenes. The community we build , the friendships that are made or the hard graft that is put in.

That hour a week can be the most important time of someone’s week.

It can be more than just getting a Pt for the weight loss. We are more than that.

We are here to encourage and empower.

Are you training with intent ?

Are you just going through the motions?

Just doing what the programme says?

Do you know why your doing that exercise and are you doing it to get the best result ?

These are all questions to ask the next time you go into do your gym session.

It’s absolutely fine just going through the motions of your workout but I’m reality your paying a coach to get you the best results. If you are just doing the movement with a light weight , stopping before you’re reached your reps and not even feeling the muscle working.

Then what’s the point ?

If your paying for a coach, your there to make the most changes.

Start to train with content.

Do not be scared to push the weights, push the heart rate and get out your comfort zone.

Now every time I go for a coffee I’m reminding myself that I come first… then coffee 🤣

Sometimes we do need the reminder that you are the only one going to be there for you. Relying on others can cause disappointment.

It’s the same when it comes to fat loss.

Waiting on someone else to push you
Waiting on the right time

Waiting around is not putting yourself first , I’d your ready to make a change to your life. Your the one that has to take the action , whatever that may be.

Reaching out to a coach
Going a walk
Getting a gym membership

You have to love yourself and do what is best for you. Stop the waiting , or you’ll be exactly where you are now In 6 months time. Even more miserable
