Great to be able to share about our next Dr Bike at St Saviours Yard on BBC Radio Norfolk this morning.
It's funded by Cycling UK so basic bike repairs are free!

Good to also give SYBC and
SYEP a mention to in the chat with Chris.

See you on Saturday 27th June!

Our monthly Dr Bikes are now supported by Cycling UK, which means that your bike can get fixed for free, while it's being repaired you can enjoy some of the delights that St Saviours Yard has to offer like buns from SØD bakery, pizza from East Dough, craft beer from Sir Toby’s and zero-waste shopping at All Planet Kind.

The next Dr Bike is scheduled for Saturday 27th June from 10am until 1pm. Basic repairs are free and offered on a first come, first served basis. No matter how rusty or rattly your bike is, you're very welcome and all we want in return for your free bike fix is an email address to show our funder that we fixed your bike.

See you on Saturday 27th June

It's Dr Bike day at St Saviours Yard

There's a DJ and morris dancers arriving after 11am but until then you can enjoy relaxing with a bun from SØD Bakery and a coffee from Merchants Hatch while your bike gets fixed.

We are offering FREE basic bicycle repairs thanks to support from Cycling UK and it's on a first come first served basis. We look forward to seeing you and your bike later.
Our June Dr Bike is on Saturday 27th June... so pop that date in your diary!

Our bicycle related offer here at Wastesmiths CIC is going to have a slightly different flavour for 2026, now that we have a base in Norwich at St Saviours Yard

We’ll still be planning regular Dr Bikes offering free basic repairs thanks to Cycling UK funding. In fact, the first one is on Saturday 23rd May from 10am until 1pm. These Dr Bikes work on a first come first served basis, and the cool thing about offering free basic bike repairs at St Saviours Yard is that while you’re waiting for your bicycle to be fixed you can enjoy fabulous pizza from East Dough Pizza, extraordinary buns from SØD Bakery, and zero-waste shopping at All Planet Kind. If you’d like to make a day of it we have a Hack Your Wardrobe session in the afternoon supporting you to add pockets to pocketless garments.

Okay, back to what our broader bicycle shaped shenanigans look like in 2026. We’ve been conscious for a while that bikes are a fabulous resource of components for so many more of our projects. We’ve seen pedal powered sewing machines that could be interesting for our We Wear The Trousers collective, and we’ve seen pedal powered shredders that would be so useful for our Precious Plastic East project. Now that we have a Norwich base we’re keen to more actively explore some of these pedal powered builds.

Given this new vision for this area of our work, the My Bike Repair name didn’t really fit anymore, so we’re now going to do bike stuff under Pedal Powered Prijects. Right on cue the Norfolk & Norwich Festival asked us to build a hanging installation, and a bicycle rim seemed like the perfect structure for it. So our Great Yarmouth Make, Grow + Mend group helped us build a piece of art suspended from a bit of a bicycle. We’re launching a Norwich Make, Grow + Mend group this month that may get involved with some of the pedal powered builds. So come along if you’re curious.

Get in touch for more information or come see us on Saturday 23rd May between 10am and 1pm at St Saviours Yard 🌍💚🚲

We’re excited to announce that after a couple of pilot Dr Bike events at St Saviours Yard we’ve secured funding and are ready to start popping some dates in the diary. Come get your bike fixed on Saturday 23rd May and/or Saturday 27th June!

So not only can you get some basic bike repairs for free, while you’re waiting for your bike to get fixed you can enjoy the delicious bakes of SØD Bakery, a perfect slice of pizza from East Dough, or a coffee from the Merchant’s Hatch.

This is only the start of what we’ve got planned with the support of Cycling UK. There’s going to be some experiments with evening rides and our first ever pilot of an outdoor evening Bike Kitchen. It’s all in aid of encouraging you to get your rusty broken bike out of the garage and back in use. So all bikes, no matter how rattly or rusty are very welcome.

Repairs are first come first served, which given that we’re starting at 10am should make it perfect timing to get a Saturday morning snack. You will to have to wait while the bike is repaired… which should give you the perfect opportunity to explore St Saviours Yard.

A lot can change in a year… and I’m not just talking about the track at Bike Club.

We’ve welcomed well over 100 young riders to the track since 1st January 2025 and it has been inspiring to see so many of them develop new skills and make new social connections.

We’re sad to say there is only one more Bike Club gathering left this year! We are closed this Friday (12th December) and then closed again on Wednesday (17th December), so we’ll see you all on Friday 19th December to finish the year. We’ll be there from 5.30pm until 8.30pm, weather permitting.

Last year this was a great event! We are offering a Dr Bike at this SYEP event tomorrow from 11am until 4pm 🚲💚🌍

Feel honoured that Cycling UK interviewed Dan from the project back in the spring. Hopefully the information he shares can help demystify turning up to a Dr Bike with a broken bicycle for the first time.

We have sessions planned in Sprowston and Mile Cross over the next couple of months so seek one out and come to say hello 🚲💚🌍
