Interested in organised open water swimming? Then let us know!

With over a dozen lakes, and beautiful scenery, Stanwick Lakes is the perfect location… So, being a nature reserve, we have been working closely with our governing bodies and we are delighted to announce that we will be running a trial season, this spring/summer!

Open water swimming at Stanwick Lakes is aimed at those who want to swim in a natural setting, those looking for a social swim, or perhaps you are training for an event. Each session will be an hour, allowing for 45 minutes swim time in Brightwater Lake, less than a 5-minute walk from the Visitor Centre and parking.

Sound like something you’d like to try? Due to the SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) status of the nature reserve, sessions must be booked advance (wild swimming is prohibited at any other time). So, first thing’s first, we’d love to know… Who’s tempted?

When a walk on the beach turns into….

A seal discovery 🦭

We literally couldn’t believe our eyes when we came across these seals. They were led all along the beach for a good half a mile. It was so nice to see so many in the wild and watching them swim in and out of the sea. We spent over 2 hours just mesmerised by them all!

This weekend we took a little trip to the Norfolk Broads. I had looked high and low for accommodation and stumbled across this little place tucked away in the Ormesby Broads. The location is literally stunning! The rooms are located above the main boat house. There are around 6 rooms each with it’s own unique character. Ours was super cosy and homely with tea and coffee making facilities, modern bathroom, HUGE bath, a TV and complimentary biscuits. The rooms are super reasonably priced, we paid around £80 per night.
The downstairs restaurant and bar was also super and we knew this from the minute we arrived as it was very popular with locals and tourists alike. We couldn’t have been looked after any better. We were told not to worry about booking a table they will feed us anytime throughout our stay within reason. Each morning we were offered a superb breakfast and we ate in the bar on the Sunday , which was both a roast option or you could pick off a limited bar menu. The food was excellent and they were still able to offer the roast option up until 7pm. Before we left we were also offered a complimentary take away hot drink which was a lovely touch! We honestly felt so looked after and the service was amazing!

If you are wanting to explore the broads at a really reasonable price then definetly give the Boathouse a try!
