Unfortunately it fills me with great sadness to announce that the greatest partnership in non league football is being broken up this summer 😢

Jonno is stepping away from football after 20+ years. Unfortunately due to other commitments away from the game and other duties in his life he’s decided that he’s given it all he can and now is the time for him to hang up his boots. I’m gutted but I’ll save the sobbing for presentation night.

With that being said, it leaves me a huge job now to fill his shoes with somebody else. Somebody who fits the role, can take on the responsibilities that Jonno did and also has got to fit in with the lads as that’s the reason we all do this, for the enjoyment and the laughs along the way.

We’re looking for 2 new members of the backroom.

1 matchday assistant - this will involve helping out on Saturdays with general football stuff. Bits of the warmup, setting up the pitch, the odd admin responsibility and just being an extra body to help out where needed. Would suit somebody young who has no interest in playing or maybe even somebody older who can’t play anymore, but would like to be involved and keep themselves young by being around the team.

1 coach/assistant manager - this is a much bigger role. We’re looking for somebody who can take training sessions and keep standards high. Ideally somebody with experience of a higher level to keep in line with the clubs ambitions. You will be needed midweek and at weekends. Need to be punctual and reliable. It’s not a serious role and is voluntary but it does come with a lot of responsibility.

Pre-season starts on Saturday 11th July and I am hoping by then we have filled both of these positions.

MOTM: Adam Bot

Never stopped running. Never stopped trying to make things happen. Unfortunately you can’t rely on 1 player to change a game or to drag you through the trenches though, if that was the case then there’s no doubt Botty was the man last night but it doesn’t work out that way. Fair play mate, never going to be easy but you never gave up 👏🏼

Unfortunately not the evening we were hoping for last night. Fair play to Whinney Hill, the better team won on the night. Congratulations on winning Division 1 👏🏼

We’ll run it back in 2 weeks time at Padiham FC for the Bob Little Trophy final and hopefully we can put up a better fight.

Proud of our season regardless of coming up short. To move up into a better league and play the way we have all year against better opposition and get promoted to the prem for next season gives us something to build on.

Thanks for everybody’s support this season, home and away, it doesn’t go unnoticed. Sorry we couldn’t give you what we all wanted, one more to go, Saturday 23rd May, see you all at Padiham 💚🤍
