MK Marathon β
3hrs 44mins
Started well and ran to plan, wheels slowly began to fall off around about 20km. Felt the fatigue and drag slowly draining me. Was like dragging a heavy anchor in the last 5km π€£.
Was basically on fumes for 75minutes. All things that were / are within my control, ie pre race meal, warm up & pacing. 3 weeks ago I was not sure Iβd even be lining up after turning my ankle on a training run.
Lots of βshoulda, coulda, wouldaβ, however the main sentiment and feeling is contentment and happiness to race a distance I had not done since completing the London Marathon in 2000 in 3hrs20. To only be 24mins adrift 26 years later is also a win for me personally.
The year started off with the realisation that I was not going to be able to complete any of the pre booked Triathlons due to a shoulder injury. There were a few weeks of sulking and feeling sorry for myself. But as always, pulled my socks up and found a new focus to work towards.
Completing this race off of a 10 week build is a massive win for me and something I am immensely proud of. Now time for recovery and healing.
Manchester 2027 next....
