Great weekend at the Shogai Summer Camp! Friday night Andrea Carbon covered stance and body movement in the kata for the weekend Hangetsu. Saturday morning was the early run, followed by a excellent morning session with Julie Nicholson Sensei, in the afternoon we split into two groups and It was back to being a white belt as Craig Simon Sensei taught us the Goju kata Seisan. The other group had a great Kumite session with Christine Donnelly. Sunday morning it was an in depth look at Hangetsu with Bunkai with Justin Beattie Sensei, the detail and explanation as always was terrific!! Well done to Luke & Josh for joining me for the two Saturday sessions. Lastly a special thank you to my good friend Simon Bligh Sensei for always making me and my students feeling so welcome and for hosting such a wonderful Karate weekend!!! 🥋

Hi All,
Just a reminder there is no Karate training on tonight, due to the hall being needed for this weekend’s Gorefield Beer Festival.
Regarding the Beer Festival Grace is singing again this year and she is starting at 2.30. So if you can pop over and support that would be great! She is fantastically talented with a great voice!! 😁

Myself and some of the senior grades went out last night to celebrate the Karate Club being now open for 5 years! It was a great night, with lots of laughs reminiscing over our different karate stories!! Andy, Mark and Arnold were there from the start and Luke and Matt joined a bit later, but all 5 have always supported me and I’m proud to have them as part of my karate club and to be able to call them my friends! 🥋

Last night was the last training session of the year, and at the end of the lesson I handed out the Junior and Adult Student of the Year Award! Junior Student of the Year went to Aiden, who has worked so hard this year to achieve his latest grading and has taken onboard all the feedback given. Adult Student of the Year went to Matt, who has trained really hard across this year doing additional 1 to 1 lessons to achieve his Shodan pass! Both are a pleasure to teach and an honour to have at my karate school.🥋
