One of the biggest mistakes I see when people are trying to get back into training is creating a routine that looks great on paper but doesn't actually fit their life.

Five sessions a week might sound impressive.

But if work, family and everything else already fill your diary, how long is that really going to last?

I'd rather see someone train two or three times every week for the next six months than train five times for two weeks and disappear.

Your routine needs to fit your life.

Plan realistically. Protect your training time. Leave yourself some flexibility.

Then repeat it.

That's how training becomes part of your lifestyle instead of something you constantly have to start again.

Frances has been putting in the work, and it's showing. 👏

Bent Over Row

47.5kg

+7.5kg

Max Volume +9.26%

She's increased her bent-over row to 47.5kg, adding an impressive 7.5kg to her previous best.

She's also increased her total max volume by 9.26%.

That's a fantastic example of what consistent training and progressive overload can do over time.

No shortcuts. No rushing the process.

Just showing up, training well and gradually getting stronger.

Brilliant work, Frances! Keep it going. 💪

The best routine isn't the one that looks perfect on paper.

It's the one you can actually live with.

You have work.

Family.

Social plans.

Unexpected things that come up.

Your training needs to fit around those things, not compete with them.

That might mean training three days one week and two the next.

It might mean changing the time you train.

It might mean shortening a session when your schedule gets tight.

That's not failing.

That's learning how to make fitness part of real life.

📆 We're halfway through September. This is usually where motivation quietly dips 📉 - not dramatically, just enough that sessions start feeling harder to get to.

😮💨 That's normal. It doesn't mean anything's gone wrong.

🔍 This is the week to check in with yourself, not check out. Adjust what's not working ⚙️. Keep what is. You don't need a clean slate - you need a small correction. 🎯

If your routine has slipped, don't try to rebuild your entire lifestyle in one week.

Start with the basics.

Get your training scheduled. Make your meals easier. Prioritise your recovery.

Then repeat.

The boring basics are often the things that make the biggest difference.

We asked our members what actually changed in their first month at RPT. 🤔 The answers weren't what you'd expect.

It wasn't the physique. 🚫🏋️ It was energy first ⚡, confidence second 💪, accountability third 🤝 - the physical changes came after.

👀 If you're on the fence about starting, this is usually how it goes. ✅

Getting back into a routine doesn't mean going from zero to one hundred.

That's usually where people make it harder than it needs to be.

Start with a few things you know you can consistently manage. Get those working again, then build from there.

Training twice a week consistently will do far more for you than planning five sessions and making it through one.

Start realistic. Build from there.

AS SUMMER ENDS, GET BACK TO YOUR ROUTINE

Summer brings a different pace.

Later nights, holidays, days out, weekends away and routines that don't always look the same.

And that's OK.

But as September comes around, it's a good time to start bringing some structure back.

Get your training back in the diary.

Get your meals back into a routine.

Get your sleep back on track.

You don't need to make up for anything or try to change everything overnight.

Just start putting the pieces back together, one habit at a time.

Because once your routine starts coming back, so does the momentum. 💪

If the scale is the only thing you're tracking, you're missing most of your progress.

👉 Swipe through the 4 markers we actually use to track how our clients are progressing - most of them have nothing to do with body weight. 📊✨

💡 This is part of what makes coaching different to just following a plan: someone reviewing the full picture with you, not just one number. 🙌
