Better late than never...

Well, the summer league ended with a BANG for the Blacks.

What an amazing summer they've had. Have we lost a fair few? Yes. But have we played teams 3,4, 5 and even 6 divisions above us? Also yes. And in every single game, we've been in it right until the end.

We played out a fantastic 3-3 draw against a team 6 divisions above us recently. Deciding it was time to play a bit more defensively, we set up with a 3-2-1 formation, which worked a treat.
Goals from Max S, and 2 from Lenny. Our parents MOTM was Archie, for some fantastic saves when under pressure. And our coaches MOTM was Max. Max played right centre back/wing back and put in the performance of his life. Reading every through ball, smashing their left winger and winning the ball at almost every opportunity, and playing confidently out from the back in a brand new position. Well done, boys.

The last game saw us run out 2-1 winners in what was a closer game than it should have been. Had our boys been able to finish on the day, it would have been a wide scoreline. But plenty to work on. Setting up in the 3-2-1 again, we decided at 1-1 to go all out attack and it worked to seal the W. Goals from Hunter and Ezra. Parents MOTM was Zach, assured performance at centre back, confident on the ball, won every tackle, monster performance. Coaches MOTM was Louis after a magnificent midfield display. All action, winning every duel, playing nice passes in little triangles with his teammates, and making some barnstorming runs forward.

After a lack of updates, here they all come at once 🤣.

The Blacks have been enjoying some highly competitive games in the summer league.

Tommy was our MOTM a few weeks ago after an outstanding performance. Playing out of position on the right wing most of the game, he bagged his first goal in a long time in a thumping win.

We came up against a team 4 divisions above us the following week in a very closely fought game. We were the better team for the most past except a 10minute spell where we conceded 4. Reggie MOTM with 2 goals and a magical midfield display.

The next week we somehow drew a game where the opposition had 3 shots to our 20! And we hit the post and crossbar 4 times in one half. 80% of the game was played in the opposition final 3rd but we couldn't get the winner. Zach with a superb performance in the middle of the part for MOTM.

Last week was a loss by 1 goal against a team 2 divisions above us. Yet again, the lads were the better team by a long way but didn't take their chances. The opposition were camped in their own half for most of the game again. Max Balmer with MOTM after a superb display in defensive midfield, his best to date!

TOURNAMENT WINNERS!

On Saturday, our Yellows headed to the Spurley Hey tournament.

And what a day it was. Making it through to the Champions League final where they won it on penalties!

There was some superb football on display at time, and some tough results ground out, too.

A fantastic day overall. 10 games, just the 2 losses all day and some cracking goals scored from the boys.

Our Blacks kicked off their summer league campaign in spectacular fashion yesterday.

Their first game in the new longer format, and they smashed it. Starting off on the front foot, but somehow having a 6 minute meltdown saw us ship 3 goals.

The lads soon found their composure, though, and fired home 7 unanswered goals after that!

We played a team from the division above us and thoroughly enjoyed the test. We have some even tougher tests coming against teams a few divisions above us last season, and we're going to relish it.

Big well done to Hunter, on man of the match. Starting off in midfield, he struggled a little. But after a quick break and coming back on into defence, he was an absolute rock. Nothing got past him all game, and he was crucial in not conceding another goal after those first few.

Well done to Max bagging 5 goals and Reggie with the other 2. We were quite unlucky not to score a few more, to be honest.

The next seasons under 11s (current year 5) have a few spots available across a couple of the teams for the 26/27 now.

As the fixtures are changing from 40-minute games to 60, it allows for bigger squads now.

Games are Saturdays and played at various venues across the Manchester area.

Some teams train Tuesday, some Wednesday. But we have the most availability in our teams that train Tuesdays.

Whether your child is brand new to football, played before and wants to make a comeback, or simply wants a change of environment, we cater for all abilities.

Congratulations to our Blacks who ran out winners in last week's cup final.

The game was sealed with goals from Lenny and Reggie.

Congratulations to our U10 Blues, who won the challenge cup final on Saturday.

These boys have jumped a couple of divisions and absolutely smashed it every week.

They played a hard fought game against AFC Stanley but ran out deserved winners.

Our final presentation day awards for the U10 saw the stripes boys pick up their trophies.

Here are our winners:

Matthew Roylance - Players player of the season, voted for by his fellow teammates.

Rueben Brown - Parents player of the season, voted for by parents & spectators.

Rueben Baker - Managers player of the season, voted for by his coaches.

A great season for the whole team, resulting in promotion. Plus a fantastic cup run, which ultimately ended in disappointment, but a massive achievement to get there in the first place.

Onwards and upwards to next season!

Our U10 Yellows had their presentation day on Sunday.

What a season these boys have had. They absolutely romped their way through division 3 in the MYSL. They earned promotion to division 2 before the champions cup started and won that division before, unfortunately, losing out 5-3 in the final.

147 goals scored, 22 wins finished top of 2 divisions. Successful season for the lads, I'd say.

Max Scott - Managers player, voted for by his 3 coaches. Hard to overlook after his 52 goal haul for the season!
