Bit of a catch up after missing the last few posts. I still haven't caught up after being away in Benidorm.

So instead, we'll post some of our most recent MOTM and trainer of the nights with a short mention of last weekends games.

Last weekend saw a tougher weekend for some teams, a mixed bag of results.

The Golds fell to a heavy defeat, the stripes a narrow one but had to start with 6 players and stoll gave it everything. A goal from Ozzy for the Stripes and a monster performance from Browny in net to keep the scoreline down.

The Blues also fell to defeat but to a very strong side. Theo with the goal and Alistair with MOTM.

The Blacks were rampant, running in 10 goals whilst hitting the crossbar 4 times and their keepers making good saves. Goals from Reggie x 3, Yousuf x 2, LJ, Hunter, Lenny, Louis and Tommy (his first of the season 💪) Yousuf with MOTM.

The Yellows went up into 2nd in the table in the cup after a really close 3-2 victory. Harry and Max S x 2 with the goals and Max with MOTM.

From the week before we have Hunter and LJ with a joint MOTM, too. Matthew for the Yellows. Kit with the stripes award and also took home the award for the male player of the week for the whole club.

Max and Tommy were joint trainer of the night 2 weeks back with Zach winning it last week. And Yousuf was the Yellows trainer of the night last week.

Another weekend, another 5 teams go unbeaten (in normal time, excluding penalties).

The sun was shining around the Greater Manchester area this Saturday & Sunday. Some lads looked like they'd caught the sun, but the truth is they'd just ran their hearts out for their teams!

We started off with the Blues, a performance of grit and determination. A match which saw both keepers pulling off fine saves. Overall, the coaches feel like they were tue better team on the day, and the result spoke for itself. Brodie with the only goal of the game.
Jaxson with MOTM after showing great character. He's been kicked about 2 weeks in a row but let's his football do the talking.

Honours were even for the Golds in another tight game that swung back and forth.
Arthur with 2 goals on the day from midfield.
Seb with MOTM. He might be the smallest on the pitch at times, but he's becoming a strong young player! Winning his duels and driving his team up the pitch. 7 games unbeaten for these boys now.

Penalty heartache for the Blacks. On a day where we played nowhere near our usual standard, our cup run came to an end. After sitting too defensively in the first half and then going a goal down, we went all out attack in the second half. We brought it back to 1-1 after a brilliant run and finish by Lenny. It was all one way traffic and it only looked like it was going to end in a winning goal for the Blacks. Lenny went through again right at the end, only for the keeper to pull off a good save. The opposition had 1 chance right at the end but great defending thwarted it.
MOTM for Max. Both Dan and Phil walked off to decide on MOTM and both said "Max" within a split second. A really determined performance, covered every blade of astro and linked the play superbly.

The Stripes progressed through to the final with a convincing win! A brilliant achievement for the boys.

After taking part in park run for a little warm up, the kid still had bundles of energy!
Oscar is oozing with confidence lately and it really shows, he completely controlled every bit of play we created today, pressing everything and stopping their build up with strong tackles.

The Yellows finished off the mini league having already secured top spot and promotion with another win to finish unbeaten. The first half was pure domination, but we somehow switched off in the second. On a day where a bit of a pitch mix up saw us using much bigger goals, we expected a cricket score from both teams. However, we got control of the game again in the second half and got the job done.

MOTM went to Max Balmer for the 2nd day running to cap off a fantastic week for the boy having also received trainer of the night on Wednesday.
We put him in defensive midfield to make him more involved in the game. He shielded his defender really well, and always made himself available to start the attacks from the back and distributed the ball to the attacking players without misplacing a single pass. Again, all 3 coaches said the same name at virtually the same time, to show what we all thought of his performance. Calm and composed.

Another weekend drew to a close, another 4 close fought games.

In a first meeting of the season between the teams, it was an interclub derby day between the Blacks and Stripes. Bragging rights on the line, friendships potentially broken for 40 intense minutes, parents with flares and their hooligan firms at the ready on the sidelines. Such was the demand, skysports brought their crew along to film the occasion.

But on a serious note, a fantastic game was played out between the teams. Firm, but very fair tackles, no bickering, no gloating from the winners, just handshakes and 20 amazing lads giving their all out on the pitch.

The Blacks ran out winners on the day with a few well worked goals. The first was outstanding counter attacking football. Lenny into Louis, who played a perfectly weighted pass into Reggie to use his silky skills to beat the defender, and then round the keeper to slot home. Lenny then tapped home from a great cross by Harry, and deja vu late in the 2nd half as Harry again crossed, for Louis to finish this time. 2 very closely matched teams provided a great spectacle for the fans. Louis with the Blacks MOTM and Kit for the Stripes.

The Golds took their unbeaten run to 6 games with a close fought draw on the day. Isaac with the goal, and Josh with MOTM after a fine goalkeeping display. One which his coaches said was the reason they stayed in the game and ground out the draw.

The Blues had a super hard fought game which could have gone either way, losing by a goal in the end in the last minute against a very good team. MoTM was Charlie brace. After feeling a little sore from the tournament the day before, he came and gave us 100% working up and down the wing making some important tackles/interceptions at the back then linking up well with his team mates driving them forward and got himself an assist. Goals from Brodie x 2 and Max S.

The Yellows put in their most rampant performance to date, one which won them the mini league and gained promotion before the cup starts next week. 15 (yes Fifteen) goals scored in the day. But, although that's amazing for the boys, we don't like to see scores like this, it's not good for either team, you learn nothing. What I will point out is one of the reasons we all love being part of this club. The boys had bagged goals galore and yet could have won by more by being selfish. But, seeing that Max Balmer hadn't got on the scoresheet yet, their unselfishness led to every one of them trying to get him his goal, laying the ball off at every opportunity. He managed to get himself 2 by the end of it, and was over the moon with his team mates. Goals on the day for Ezra x 4, Oscar x 3, Yousuf x 3, Max S x 2, Max B x 2 & Harry. Ezra with MOTM.

Coach Dan bagged himself 2 goals on the day for the vets, but they unfortunately lost 4-2.

Semi finals this weekend for both the Blacks and Stripes, let's go boys!

Our U10s Blues headed to a half term tournament on Friday. In wet and boggy conditions it sounded like a great day out still.

Their coaches said how amazing they played in their final but just couldn't find that winner. Creating the better chances but just not managing to get that elusive goal.

After coming out top of the table in the group phase, the boys lost out on penalties to finish the tournament as runners up.

A mixed bag for all the teams last weekend.

Some fantastic performances all over the pitch though, and some very close games.

The Golds kicked off the weekend with a thumping performance. Down on numbers, they had to dig deep and put in some big minutes. 2 goals each from Leo and Oscar on the day.

The Blacks had a rampant first half in their game. Reggie and Lenny combining and cutting through the opposition for fun. Reggie helping himself to a hat trick and setting up Lenny for his goal, the damage was done by the boys before HT. Reggie coming away with player of the week for the club for his efforts.

The Blues lost out in a very close fought game.
They are loving their time in this division because games are much tougher and it was another encounter against another very tough team who played some good football. Defensively we was quite solid again as normal with Alistair, Finn and Jax mopping up the majority of through balls, both keepers made some really good saves aswell to keep the score down. Unfortunately we just conceded very quickly after we scored and didn’t have enough time to recover from it. Goal from Brodie and man of the match this week was Finn.

The Stripes lost out for the first time in a while. Very narrow defeat on the day but another 2 goals from Oscar after bagging 2 earlier in the day, also.

The Yellows continued to march on in the MYSL and cement their place at the top of the table. A win this Sunday will see them win the mini league before the end of season Cup starts. A dominant performance from the boys, Max, Harry, Oscar and Yousuf with our goals. Max with MOTM after a brilliant performance in midfield. A late consolation goal ruining our clean sheet, but a great performance nonetheless.

Well done to our Blacks players, Reggie. Player of the week for the whole club, well deserved 👏 ❤️

U10 Blacks player of the week, sponsored by The Manchester Carpet Cleaner was Reggie.

And what a performance he put in. Playing in a midfield 2 with freedom to roam into the striker role, him and his partner absolutely tore the opposition to shreds. Linking up really well with quick 1-2s and laying eachother off for fun. Not only did Reggie grab a 1st half hat trick, but he laid off his partner to grab his goal, too. He was everywhere on the pitch, I don't think there was a blade of astro that he didn't cover. A pure complete box to box midfield performance. 👏

What a weekend yet again.

These boys across all the teams are killing it at the minute.

The Blacks kicked off the weekend bouncing back after a fiesta defeat since November. Some great play from the lads at time, silky quick moving football. We shipped 2 goals in the space of a minute at the end of the first half. But that didn't stop them marching through to the semi final of the cup. Goals from Harry, Yousuf and an OG after a wicked corner from Lenny. Harry with MOTM after a superb battling effort all game.

The Stripes also marched into the semi final. A really closely contested game saw them through with an OG on the day, but big Browney with a clean sheet as well to see the boys through to their first semi final. Charlie with MOTM.

The Golds exited the cup, but not without a fight! Coming from 2 goals down at HT to level it up in the 2nd half, only to go out in the most heartbreaking way possible, penalties! A terrific effort though and one to be proud of.

The Yellows continued their 100% record in the division to cement their place at the top of the table in the MYSL. A terrific performance from everyone. The game had its fair share of entertainment. A closely contested first half with just the 1 goal right on the HT whistle. But the 2nd half was goals galore. 2 from Cooper on the day, 1 each for Max, Yousuf and Harry. MOTM went to Cooper. A very solid performance, playing CM and LW and chipping in with 2 important goals. But his workrate and battling for the ball against some bigger lads is what deserved the award.
