The Hockey Club has fast become the most successful and is one of most popular clubs at UWS. The club is now almost 4 years old, and despite being a young club, we've established ourselves as one of the most successful in Scotland. The club can currently boast some of Scottish Hockey's most promising talents, with several Scottish internationalists having turned out for the University side, alongs
ide National, Regional and District level players throughout the two squads! Our Men's 1st XI are back-to-back four time division champions, bursting into BUCS Division 1A for the coming season. League success often comes hand in hand with cup success, and that would be true for the Men's 1st XI, having won the Scottish Conference Cup in 2015. The Gent's narrowly missed out on securing the 2016 Conference Cup, finishing runners up to Strathclyde. Our Women's 1st XI finished strong last season, cementing their position in Division 5A. After an exciting season with the highest goal-tally of any Ladies season to date, the coming season is shaping up to be a push to League Promotion! The club currently train and play our competitive games at Clydesdale Hockey Club (G41), which provides the club with a central location for our cross-campus teams. Monday training sessions are held between 17:00 and 18:30, and led by current two time UWS Coach of the Year, Ian Wilson, an ex-Scottish Internation and current Scotland Masters captain. Our Social Secretaries plan regular events throughout the season, with plenty of opportunities to meet new people both on and off the hockey pitch and be apart of the UWS Hockey family!
