Cathkin Braes Golf Club, founded in 1888, is the second oldest golf club in the Clyde Valley, and is the oldest that is still on its original site. The Course sits more than 650 feet above Glasgow, which results in some stunning views over Glasgow to the Campsie Hills and the Southern Scottish Highlands and out to the isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland. Although it is only 5 miles from t

he centre of Glasgow it is in the middle of the countryside, and is widely regarded as one of the best inland courses in the West of Scotland. The 6209 yards, Par 71, Course is a private one, owned by the Members, but welcomes visitors by prior arrangement. It is located in the centre of a triangle formed by Rutherglen, East Kilbride, and the village of Carmunnock, on the southeast of Glasgow.

Again this week we have had a mixed bag of four seasons almost every day. However, our Greens Team continue to work hard throughout & the course is really starting to take shape.

MAINTENANCE:

GREENS/FAIRWAYS/HAZARD AREAS
• Hand cut, where possible.
• Verti cut which helps to thin out annual meadow grass.
• Liquid feed applied.
• The new turf on the 4th has been cut down to a standard fairway height.
• Hazards areas have all been freshened/tidied up.

TEES
• All divots on tees have been filled with seed.

ACADEMY
• The Team have fixed the broken nets down the right-hand-side of the long game area – this should help to minimise the number of lost balls.
• The outer perimeter has also been cut by the Greens Team.

Golf 9’s debut tonight for Cathkin tonight @ Kirkhill Golf Club against 5 other local clubs.

This week’s weather has been very hit or miss with hot & cold temperatures throughout & at times torrential rain. This affected maintenance work, with the majority of cutting being done in very wet conditions.

MAINTENANCE:
• Area in front 1st tee has all been cut down.
• Top area between the 2nd & 4th fairways have also been cut down.
• All plantations & other areas have all been cut as normal.

ACADEMY (Our Greens Team are covering holiday leave):
• General maintenance - undertaking ball collections & emptying bins.
• Hand picked over a 1000 range balls from the right-hand-side of long game area.

GENERAL:
• Maintenance of the air compressor compound.
• Emptying bins around the Clubhouse.
