Matchday #3 of our Kent County Division 1 campaign.

We face off against former FA vase semi-finalist Canterbury City.

The two teams met in the cup last year, where we edged the victory on penalties.

Borden Village 2-3 FCAnchorians

In a highly anticipated game, it was Borden started the livelier of the two teams testing Anchorians goalkeeper James Williamson and the frame of his goal on more than one occasion.

However, it was the Anchs Who opened up the scoring through New signing Femi Kuku Who tucked home at the back post following the flick on by Louis Payne from a Damon Lanckmans throw.

The heated match reached the boiling point early on after Borden Goal Keeper saw red for foul and abusive language towards a spectator. From this it was always going to be an uphill battle by Borden however they were the team to then equalise mimicking the first goal of the game through a long throw.

1-1 Half time

Into the second half. Both teams continued to contest however the extra man was proving too much of an advantage for the Anchs. A beautifully worked move from front to back and vision from James Staunton. Tuck-Brown found his first of the season.

Borden continued to bomb on pressure and the home fans were rewarded and erupted into celebration after an absolute worldie of a freekick was lasered in. (check their insta for the video) All Square. 2-2

Not to be deterred Anchorians found that winner when Tuck-Brown doubled his tally from a long ball forward from double assister Louis P🅰️🅰️yne delicately poked a chip past the on-rushing stand in Borden Keeper. Sending the Anchs travelling fans into rapture and the 3 points back to Watling Park.

MOTM - Rui Abreu. Slotted into the lineup after an injury in the warm up. Sensational for 90 minutes.

Weekend result.

FC Anchorians 1-1 Guru Nanak FC

The opening game of the new Kent County Division 1 season saw us face off against last years premier division outfit of Guru Nanak.

FC Anchorians started well dominating possession early, able to break down Guru’s resilient defence twice only for both goals to be ruled out.

0-0 at the break. Guru’s newly formed squad began to gel and a few smart stops from goalkeeper Ryan Clark and good defensive work kept them at bay.

The Anchs done everything but put the ball in the net. Until finally the breakthrough came in the 89th Minute when fine work by Frankie Simmons and Femi Kuku allowed Dan Rayment to Power home. 1-0. Defensive cover added to see the game off when a clearance fell to Guru Nanak’s centre midfielder who really grew into the game. Hit from all of 35 yards it never left the top corner

Football is a cruel mistress.

A point in the opening game is nothing to sniff at Guru will beat a lot of teams this year.

We roll onto Tonight’s game vs Borden Village.

Semi-Final vs Borstal Tigers

Anchorians 4-0 Borstal Tigers

A youthful looking Anchorians set out vs Borstal. Goalkeeper James Williamson, getting some minutes in out pitch, practicing his back up striker role. A game in which was controlled by Anchs from the offset. It set off with Wilko being a nuisance and scoring the first with a bundled tap in.

A great day for the Trialist family as they saying goes as 2 goals were scored from them.

Louis Payne grabbed another after his initial penalty was saved, LP poked in the rebound.

Borstal huffed and puffed and played the game in great spirits, we wish their management and players all the best for the upcoming season.

White Horse, Rainham have done it again. Our favourite day in the calendar year!

Nicola and her team hosted such a wonderful day where the local community gathered and done what it does best and rally together for such a amazing cause.

We’re honoured to be a part of the tradition which entered its 6th year.

The game was well contested, good football and great laughs were had all around. Players just edged past the punters this year but a close encounter yet again!
