Please join us and TD1 Youth Hub for this special, annual community walk ❤️🏁🚶❤️

Join us and Hike & Bike Hub, Galashiels SCIO SC 051989 for the Annual PC Sean Wright Memorial Walk on Saturday 16th May.

We’ll meet at TD1 Youth Hub at 10am, before heading out together on a relaxed community walk in memory of former Community Police Officer Sean Wright.

Everyone is welcome. This will be a relatively easy stroll, with no pressure and no need to be an experienced walker. Just come along, walk with us, and be part of a lovely community morning.

After the walk, refreshments and nibbles will be available back at TD1.

Route: TD1 to Policies, Victoria Park, Wood Street, down the Cloven Link and back to TD1.

Cracking walk and talk this morning from Langlee, through Ellwyn Glen, and on to the Borders Abbey Way alongside the Tweed at Lowood into the Abbotsford estate. Several herons along the route including the one in the field! Lots of laughs on today's walk.....reasons to be revealed at a later date.
Thanks to Borders Wheels for use of the bus!😉🚶🏁❤️

Wonderful morning for our Walk It Easy walk from Wilkie Gardens. Beautiful sunshine, cute ducklings, a good listening spot to use the bird song app, a chance to check our international languages knowledge and a well placed bench for a rest on the way back 🚶🧑‍🦼❤️

What's on at The Hub this week:

Saturday 2nd May - our weekly walk starts at Langlee Community Centre at 10am and ends at Abbotsford The Home of Sir Walter Scott, after which we will bring you back to Langlee Community Centre thanks to Borders Wheels - numbers on the bus back are limited so please let us know if you're coming along

Sunday 3rd May - Sunday Cycle to The waterwheel Tea room, Selkirk. Leaving the Hub on Douglas Bridge at 10am

What a great time we had reimagining how some spaces down alongside the Gala Water could look....who knew how much fun could be had with chalk* This event, led by Coz from Little Art Hub Galashiels, was about encouraging creativity, thinking about street art and use of our shared spaces 🏁🚶❤️💚

Galashiels Walking Festival Day 4 Torwoodlee Broch and Tower
On this walk, 14 walkers made their way through the town, along the Clovenfords Link to Torwoodlee Broch where they were met by Susan, Countryside Ranger and Keith, Council Archeologist. They had a very interesting talk on the Broch , Hillfort and Cist. Keith produced original artefacts from local digs and some replicas, that walkers were able to handle. Amazing to touch a brooch that was almost 2000 years old! They then walked down to the Tower where Susan told the group about the Wednesday evening of the Braw Lads Gathering where the stone and sod are presented to the Braw Lads attendants and the part they play in the ceremony on Braw Lad’s day. Keith outlined the history of the Tower before the group made our way back to the Hub. Thanks to volunteer walk leaders Frank, Maureen and Julia and to Susan and Keith for making this walk such a success 👏🏁🚶❤️🏁👏

Galashiels Walking Festival Day 4
Early start this morning for the Dawn Chorus walk in The Policies with . Starting whilst still dark, our selfie attempt at the start failed - but these pictures make up for it! It was beautiful listening to the sounds of songthrush, blackbirds, chiff chaffs, wrens and more, and we didn't seem to disturb the two deer having their breakfast 🏁🚶💚🏁
