This represents Tommys Academies 600th Win across all categories of junior competition. From local, regional, national, international and World Championships

To build this strength in depth takes time and a tonne of parental commitment in the background

Thank you so much TFA mums and dads, doing what Tommys mum and dad did for him, they gave Tommy a chance!

All we all need in life is A CHANCE!

Our programme built around the games and drills Tommy used to play, with Tommys first coach, heading the TFA Coaching team, works, it really works.

But……… starting children at golf, spending time with them inbetween golf lessons, building their technique and confidence, layer by layer, takes time.

The children need a bit of space to find their feet and to become accustomed to not be afraid of falling short.

In our mistakes and occasional golfing disasters, lie the secrets to forward progress

We never fail, we either win or learn

We get knocked down…… but we get back up again.

We reflect on our rounds of golf and seek out feedback

We break down complex challenges and learn how to tackle them one piece at a time

We build self belief and yes, courage.

The courage to make that walk to the 1st tee in any level of competition, all by ourselves, some children as young as 5.

We welcome butterflies, we welcome the slight trembling and learn to recognise this as excitement and our bodies telling us, we are READY!

Every shot, every game gives us information to share with parents, coaches and ourselves, informing our practice plans and training.

You only excel at what you love, Vinnie loves golf and it shows in his incredible run of results, 5 consecutive wins on The Ping Junior Tour

Cameron McCormick, one of the best golf coaches in the world, sheds light on commonalities between the parents of future Tour Players.

Having spent so many early years with Tommy and his dad, I am lucky to have seen first hand, how a spark⚡️ of interest became smouldering tinder, became a flame, which turned into a roaring 🔥 fire.

My own son who was a great junior competitive golfer, which aroused competitiveness in me and ambition, got to about 10yrs old when I suddenly realised, he had never, ever asked me if we could go and practice golf? It was me leading the charge.

Was this fair? I eased back and he never really asked to go, occasionally playing golf for fun. Now as an 18yr old, he wants to practice and play with his friends and he asks me to help him with his practice.

Did my early parental drive, put him off? I made it into pro golf through almost obsessive practice, target setting and repetitive scoring games, always trying to beat my own PB’s

But as my wife always reminds me, “Norman….. not everyone is like you!”

Walking the line between giving children the best chance of success and snuffing out enthusiasm, is challenging.

My advice would be to always treat golf as a great chance to spend time with your kids and to end every session on a high. Let your children have a bit of fun

Isn’t it great that we are all individuals. But what we all need is a sense of unconditional love, a voice and freedom of expression

You ultimately only excel at what you love!
