The Griphouse has been around a long time and our athletes have had a wild degree of success over the past couple of decades.
What Shay achieved on Saturday is as big an achievement as any we have seen.
Winning a blackbelt world title is massively difficult task to pull off and should receive much more recognition than it will get in Scottish media.
In an era where self promotion and self aggrandising is the norm, Shay has gone about improving his skills, coming back from surgery, building a community, helping others around him and generally just being super sound.
