Today the TMTKD team, with one big difference, tested their technical skills at a grass roots Poomsae (forms/patterns) competition in North Yorkshire.

What was the big difference I hear you say?

Well, it’s the first time the TMTKD Academy had more adult competitors than kids - and it was a day of great success and huge smiles on the back of it.

With six adults and three youngsters taking to the mats, the team grabbed an impressive total of 18 medals in the individual, pair and team categories.

Full results:

7 Gold 🥇
3 Silver 🥈
7 Bronze 🥉
1 participation 🎖️

But more than that, they demonstrated skill, determination and did something most people never will by just walking on to the mats.

Thanks to Strike Taekwondo and Exceed Taekwondo for hosting another fantastic tournament and congratulations to all of today’s competitors.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our brilliant TMTKD mums! 🌸🥋

Today’s a chance to say a big thank you to the mums who support our students week in, week out — and to the many of you who train right alongside them.

Whether you’re tying belts, holding pads, jumping into class yourself, or simply cheering from the side of the mats, you’re a huge part of what makes our club such a great community.

We’re lucky to have so many strong, supportive and dedicated mums in TMTKD. We hope you all have a lovely Mother’s Day — you deserve it! 💐

Today we celebrate the incredible women and girls who are part of Mount Taekwondo Academy. Your strength, determination, and spirit inspire everyone around you both on and off the mats.

Taekwondo is about confidence, resilience, and believing in yourself — and we are proud to see so many amazing women demonstrating exactly that every week in class. Whether you are a beginner, a black belt, a competitor, or a supporter on the sidelines, you are an important part of our Taekwondo family.

Thank you for showing that strength comes in many forms and for continuing to inspire the next generation of martial artists.

Here’s to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them. 💪

Our third Barcelona international, and as always it was an eventful tournament.

Isaac retired following an injury in the first round of his initial fight.

His category was strong, but had he been able to avoid injury we’re sure he would have gone on to the final.

Jake fought and won his first two fights with complete composure, taking him to the final, where the contest was split by a last minute head shot which saw him take silver.

As always, we are so proud of them both, for simply taking to the mats.

Well done team!

🥋🔥 Incredible Opportunity for Our Students! 🔥🥋

A group of our Mount Taekwondo Academy students had the amazing opportunity to once again train with Taekwondo Olympian Caden Cunningham at Quest Taekwondo.

The session was absolutely outstanding — high intensity, technical, and truly inspiring. Learning from an Olympian of Caden’s calibre is something really special, and our students rose to the challenge brilliantly.

A huge thank you to Michael McKenzie for hosting and giving our athletes this fantastic opportunity. We’re very grateful 🙌

What makes this even better? Two of the students who attended will be competing in Barcelona this Saturday 🇪🇸 — so what perfect timing to sharpen their skills and gain invaluable insight from the very best!

We’re incredibly proud of their commitment and can’t wait to see them in action this weekend.

Let’s go Team Mount! 💙🥋🔥

Saturday is always fight training at the Academy.

This week we focused on coordination, reaction times, leg control and flexibility work - along with some scored one-on-one matches.

Safeguarding Update

We’re pleased to confirm that we’ve once again completed our annual Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts submission through Sport England and have met all required standards, meaning we have been awarded the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts again.

The Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts recognises clubs in England that consistently demonstrate high safeguarding standards. It gives parents, carers and organisations confidence that a club has robust policies, qualified instructors and clear procedures in place to provide a safe environment for training. The Code was developed by Sport England in consultation with safeguarding specialists and martial arts organisations and is funded by the National Lottery.

Each year this process involves submitting detailed evidence to show our policies, qualifications and safeguarding practices are fully up to date. It’s an important part of how we ensure our club remains a safe, supportive and professional place for everyone to train.

For my next video, I’m adopting this method 😂
