The hardest part about feeling stuck and not knowing what I wanted next in my career wasn’t the confusion.
It was the constant, underlying restlessness.
That subtle but persistent feeling that something just wasn’t right.
Like I was living someone else’s life.
It was like walking aimlessly through a town, lost, but not even knowing what “home” was supposed to feel like.
I knew I was craving for something meaningful, something that mattered.
Something that actually worked with my family life.
But I had no clear direction.
My friends tried to help:
“You should become a teacher, you’re so good with kids.”
“You should become a garden designer, you’re an engineer and love gardening.”
“You should become an accountant, you’re good with numbers.”
And I explored those paths but none of them felt right.
And then, something triggered me on a personal level and I realised that I had been looking for answers outside of myself that could only come from me.
So, I made a decision:
to take full responsibility for my life and my happiness and to
be willing to change and invest in myself again.
I realised that passion was the missing piece.
I had to be passionate about something instead of forcing to find my purpose.
And allowing it to unfold through exploration.
Identifying a new career direction, especially for midlife women, is not an easy decision.
It’s a process of reconnecting with yourself.
And you need to accept that what got you here, won’t get you there.
If this resonates because you’ve been feeling that quiet restlessness too, tell me in the comments:
