This weekend at Shennington Circuit definitely tested me more than any race weekend I’ve had so far…
Yesterday actually started really positively. I was on the pace, 3rd quickest overall and the fastest rookie, which I was super happy with 💪
Unfortunately, Saturday also came with its challenges. We had to do an engine change and also suffered a broken chassis, which made things a bit tougher heading into Sunday.
Sunday (today) is where everything seemed to happen at once… Race 1, A front right wheel bolt shattered which caused a big crash, bending my chassis, steering rack and more. After that, in race 2 my engine completely gave up which forced a retirement, and then to finish off the replacement engine for race 3 had issues too… meaning another retirement.
Honestly, I felt upset, angry and pretty confused as to why everything seemed to hit at once. But I took a bit of time out, had a proper talk with myself, and reset.
This is motorsport. Anything can go wrong at any time.
What matters is how you deal with it.
For me, it’s about staying focused, blocking out the noise, and coming back stronger 💪
Even though the results weren’t what we were clearly aiming for, I’ve learned SO much this weekend, probably more than I would have if everything went perfectly.
Thank you again to the fantastic AJ Racing: Driving Female Success, and my Mechanic (Tom) for all the support and pure skill involved in turning my kart around, my mum and dad for being there for me (and buying replacement parts) 🫣, and everyone who tuned in and supported me, it really does mean a lot 🤍
Sorry we couldn’t deliver the results this time.
My chin is up, and I’m already looking forward to the next round.
Now… off to earn some more pocket money 😂 ###x
