📢📢We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Terre des hommes Ηellas - Γη των ανθρώπων to support our initiative on creating a breakthrough safeguarding policy for water polo🤽🏾 athletes in Greece🇬🇷. Initially designed to serve our needs and support athletes visiting Greece from abroad but ultimately with the view to support wider Greek water polo and incorporate any young athlete in the sport, such policy could offer several important benefits as it:
➡️Ensures athletes are protected from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, as well as neglect or exploitation, setting clear guidelines for appropriate coach-athlete and peer interactions.
➡️Creates a Safe Training Environment, making it easier for athletes to focus on training and performance.
➡️Gives athletes, parents, and staff a clear procedure for reporting concerns.
✅Encourages a more inclusive and supportive team culture, protecting against bullying, discrimination, or exclusion.
✅Supports Mental and Emotional Well-being, helping coaches and staff be aware of and responsive to signs of distress or burnout.
✅Promotes Long-Term Athlete Development through a balanced healthy progression in the sport, ensuring that young or vulnerable athletes are not pushed too hard too early.
All in all this safeguarding policy creates the conditions for athletes to thrive, both in water polo and beyond. It builds trust, safety, and respect🤝 which are essential for individual and team success🏆🥇
