🌳 Currently the number of signatures to save the ancient Clatterbury Oak stands at 712. This is a significant number of people who care that this tree is not destroyed! But please also submit your views to UDC ([email protected]) quoting ref UTT/23/3135/FUL regarding the development in question. 🌳

Congratulations to our Ladies team - Catherine Brimmer, Jackie Patton, Helena Holmes, Michelle Perkins, Caroline Marsh, Ali Ruggles-Brice, Jolie May, Chrissie Fothergill and Sarah Wyatt. They are top of the Essex Small Clubs league so far with a 30 point lead and just 3 more matches to play!!

It's Wimbledon fortnight and what better time than this to re ignite your passion for tennis by joining your local tennis club?! At long last the weather is improving, yay! The tennis club is open once more and is very pleased to be welcoming back all our existing and new members! There are still rules that we have to follow for the time being I'm afraid, and we have to ask that you book a court on our booking system if you would like to play socially, and register on our WhatsApp group if you would like to attend our Club morning on Sundays. Social distancing rules apply as per LTA guidelines.

Clavering Tennis Club would like to wish all their members past, present and future a happy, healthy and more optimistic 2021. Sadly once again due to the national lockdown our courts are currently closed again. We will of course re-open the courts as soon as the government restrictions are lifted and play is permitted. Our typically British summer has arrived with a blip on the amazing weather we have had during lockdown, a blessing for those of us fortunate to have gardens to enjoy! Don't despair however as the forecast from next week to the end of the month is looking great! So if you are not already a member of the tennis club then why not join today? It's amazing value as our superb courts are available all year round, family memberships being particularly popular as it's something local to do with the kids in the fresh air in beautiful surroundings. All players of all abilities very welcome. So as long as you have a racket, some tennis balls and tennis shoes/suitable non slip trainers ie not astroturf, there's really no excuse! This is a photo that appeared on the Clavering History group, taken at the Millennium Pageant of members of the tennis club wearing old style clothes! Diana Cross identified a few people.. "Second left is Rosie Kershaw, next to her Diana Cross and on the end Sally Humphries. Not sure about the people with cut off heads. Great day playing with wooden rackets and enjoying Strawberries and Pimms and wearing old tennis clothes. I am sure we all recognise some of them, sorry the top of the photo is cut off". I think that one of the players might be Julian Hall? Can anyone identify the others?
