We have a brand new u10 girls team!

We are a brand new U10s girls team at Tansley Juniors FC. We aim to provide girls with the opportunity to engage in sport, make some new friends, and develop their skills both on and off the pitch. Inclusion and player development is at the heart of what we do, giving players the opportunity to experience different positions on the pitch and ensuring that they get equal game time during matches.

Our u14s are looking to recruit a couple of new players. School Year 9 also year 8 playing up a year also considered.

We currently compete in Division 2 NDYFL, with a fantastic group of players and supportive, welcoming parents.

We were small in numbers last night at Wildcats with many off for half-term or out trick or treating. But that didn’t stop us having a great time. In full Halloween costume complete with Tansley Juniors bobble hats and football boots we got dads and coaches involved and played some Halloween football with a few sweets thrown in along the way. I’ve never heard anyone laugh so much in a football training session as they did last last night. Thanks for being such a good sport everyone.

Well done to all the girls today. It is great to see so many of them growing in confidence on the pitch week by week and developing new skills and understanding of the game. We had a few new positions today as it helps the girls gain a different understanding of roles on the pitch and provides an opportunity to try out something new to see how it suits them. It also helps to develop all round understanding of the game. Player of the match went to Lucy today. She put up a good solid defence and showed good awareness of positioning and predicted well where the ball was going to go and what the players were going to do with it. Lucy always works hard on the pitch and in training and intellectually understands the concepts that we are working on and why we are teaching them certain skills. Keep up the good work Lucy!

What a great team player, a captain in the making! Well done Sophia! 💪⚽

Support: This is one of the amazing personal qualities that our girls show each other both at training and during matches. Sophia is a brilliant example of this as I regularly hear her telling the other girls that they did something well and that they played well in the match. It helps makes our football journey a really positive and enjoyable experience for players, coaches and parents. We are a team, all with individual qualities and skills, and when you put these together we are amazing! Well done girls, keep up the great attitude and keep looking out for each other.

Keira is a credit to the club!

Community: Every week Keira, who plays for Tansley Juniors U15 Girls and U15 mixed team, takes the time to help out with the Wildcats sessions and the U12 girls training sessions and matches. She works really well with the younger players, guiding them through warm-ups, helping them with drills, doing training activities with subs whilst they are waiting for their turn to go on the pitch on match days, and generally offering support and encouragement. She is prepared to ‘get stuck in’ on many levels, from setting up equipment, moving goals and preparing the pitch for match days to coaching players. She is a great role model for our younger players and helps makes Tansley Juniors a supportive environment where older players look after younger players and contribute to the running of the team. Thank-you Keira for all your help!

🏆 We received our Club of the Year award at the Derbyshire County FA Grassroots Football Awards Night on Friday. It was a fantastic evening celebrating outstanding achievements from across the grassroots game, including our own!
