Happy new year everyone.
Unfortunately we have to bring some bad news to you.
We placed a advert up a few days ago and at the beginning November and December 2023 regarding interest for the club, Unfortunately there has been of little interest in fact 6 have come forward most of which are under 7 years old and 3 adults., unfortunately due to overhead costs and insurance this simply means that the small amount of money we take just doesn’t seem it worthy to reopen the club.
This is something we have been trying to avoid and we completely appreciate that there has been venue changes, time changes and other things popped up causing classes to be cancelled or moved sadly this is out of our hands.
6 students last year graded and we watched them grow as shy nervous young people into confident students developing new skills and friendships in the club which makes this choice even harder but unfortunately lack of interest, overhead costs had forced the choice to close the karate club…. HOWEVER all is not lost!!
For those students will help them find another club that will honour current grade certification and whilst we can’t teach them further we wish them every success there is to come.
2024 is now here and in order to reopen the club even for one day will cost us £1100 a year just for insurances, without venue hire, equipment upgrades and whilst that split between 6 students doesn’t seem a lot it would mean no one would be able to grade due to training once a week as you simply do not gain the experience and practice you need in order to successfully pass a grading plus at a low cost of £5 per child under 11, £7 for juniors, , £15 for family up to 4 people it just does not cover the cost of insurance let alone hire of a venue for a hour even if we as a club introduced memberships.
We even had the honour of teaching at the local village school which saw 15 seriously enthusiastic students have fun with learning self defence. With that thank you to Edmond De Mountforde school
It’s with the above factual statistics that we have decided to close the club maybe not for good but for now.
Current students will receive their belts and certificates for grade once we have received them.
