We offer a high value, professional introduction to the Martial Arts and exercise. Using established principles of body mechanics, students learn to coordinate their body using structured movements alongside group and partner training. Universal Method (U.M) is a controlled, realistic approach to health and self defence and is also a fun way of learning a great skill, losing weight and meeting new
people for a rewarding life improving experience. A typical class incorporates:
1) Introduction.
2) Meditation. Focusing the mind to maximise concentration, preparing students for U.M Training.
3) Warm up. Stretching of major muscle groups and warming the bodies core temperature to prevent injury.
4) Dynamic Movement. Learning pre-arranged movements (forms), self defence, joint mobility, cardio vascular training and active stretching.
5) Group Training/Partner Training. Technique development, acquired skill implementation, practising kicking, punching and blocking techniques with partner/using pads.
6) Cool Down. Exercises to return the body to its natural state.
7) Meditation. Clearing the mind, allowing students a moment of introspection and relaxation. The benefits of this class structure helps develop students overall flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, timing, stamina and fitness. Additionally U.M training improves concentration, focus, confidence and discipline. Expert tuition is given by 4th Dan Master, ex-International/National Champion Jerome Sandiford. This type of training is challenging and highly rewarding for Children and Adults from ages 6 years plus.
