A great start to the new league season today with a 1-0 victory over Camberley Town Youth Old Boys Red!

The team put in a fantastic effort from the very first whistle and worked hard throughout. Camberley are a new team this season and gave us a really good game, making us work for the result.

We had plenty of opportunities to add to the scoreline and could have come away with more goals, but in the end we did what was needed to secure the 3 points in our first league game of the new season 💜🩵

Farnborough Raiders are delighted to announce another retainee to the 26/27 squad - Kieran Rae.

Kieran joined the raiders from the very beginning, attending the trail sessions and proving his worth. A strong, intimidating striker who can hold up the ball and link play. Kieran’s played Sunday league for a number of years mainly sticking with the same team across the years. Kieran is a player who puts the team first week in week out and never moans about anything and gets on with what’s needed for the squad. His dress sense his better than his footballing ability however, but his footballing ability is catching up slowly but surely.

Mr Dress sense’s comments: I want to start off by saying thank you for the opportunity to resign for the club this year. I’m confident that going into the new season with the new players we’ve added a lot more quality and options on the pitch. I hope to improve as a player and add more goals, assists and a trophy this year. There’s been a big improvement since last season. Raiders isn’t just a team, it’s more like a family!

Gaffers comments: Kieran is a player who puts the club and his team mates before himself. A real selfless player but someone who you can trust to do the job you require him to do. A player who’s strong, can link up player and someone who’s intimidating on the pitch. A few little things to work on this season but he’s a player who works hard and will put practice into games. If only he played aswell as he dresses.

Farnborough Raiders are delighted to announce the resigning of Tom Howell for the 26/27 season.

Tom joined the raiders halfway through the 25/26 season. Tom brought in some defensive depth in the squad. Tom again has committed to the raiders ensuring defensive depth whilst being versatile enough to play higher up the pitch if and when needed. Tom, usually a winger (apparently) joined us as a defender after a few years out of football. Last season winning the fair play award, his level headedness and ability to not get drawn into heated moments allows him to steer away from the referees book. Although he looks like a Viking, he very much is the opposite, scared to header the ball, could’ve had a few goals if he wasn’t. What we cannot deny though, his is commitment, his willing to improve and the fact he gives 100% week in week out.

Mr Viking’s no header comments: Putting pen to paper for the new season was a no brainer when you see the potential of the squad. I believe this season will be more successful than last and i hope to help the team week in week out. This season my aim is to help the team by being dependable and versatile and giving my all in games and training.

Gaffers comments: Tom is a player who when he joined, he settled in straight away. He works hard in training and was learning a new position as a defender. Everytime he steps onto the grass he gives it everything to improve and to earn his name on the team sheet. His heading needs improvement, but he was close to earning the most improved last season because the difference between when he joined and at the end of the season was a huge. For me, I’d like to see Tom just be abit more Viking like and be abit more ruthless in the tackles and add a headed goal or two too his name. *Viking Rows*

Farnborough Raiders are delighted to announce the newest and youngest addition to the 26/27 squad - Shay Page.

Shay put pen to paper this season which will be his first in adult football. At just 17 years old he is the youngest player in the squad. Although his young age, he’s played football since the age of 6 and continued to play all the way through until last year. He made the decision to continue playing football but stepping it up to men’s football. He’s a defensive player, who brings grit, determination, enthusiasm and abit of edge. A tough tackling no nonsense defender who loves to defend. He’ll only go from strength to strength the more games he gets under his belt. Men’s football doesn’t phase him and that’s proven during pre season but just needs to remember to keep quiet like the baby he is sometimes and let his footballing do the talking.

Shays comments: Joining the raiders this season as my first season in men’s football, I wanted to continue football and join a local team. We have a great bunch here and the lads have made me feel very welcome, now we just need to push on and finish as high up the table as possible.

Gaffers comments: Shay joins us with youth football under his belt. This being his first season in adult football it’s about him finding his feet. Men’s football is different to youth football but aslong as he listens and keeps developing he’ll have a long career in adult football. Like any young player comes the fearlessness but it’s my job to rein him in and keep him calm and level headed. Shay reminds me of myself a little bit with the edge he plays with, but it’s my job now to pass my experience on to him, keep him level headed and calm and not be the little baby. I’m looking forward to working with shay as he develops into adult football.

Farnborough Raiders are delighted to announce the signing of Jon Kirby for the 26/27 campaign.

Jon has put pen to paper for 26/27 season bringing a wealth of experience to the team. At 6 Jon signed for Camberley, where he had played in European tournaments in Amsterdam and then Germany. Jon’s talent on the football pitch and this was proved when he signed for Cove Reserves at the age of 17/18. This would then take him onto the first team for a brief spell before a Saturday job put a stop to that. He then joined Rushmoor Men’s team who played Sunday’s. Unfortunately at the age of 21 his footballing career got halted, through injury’s. Injury’s no footballer wants to have in their career twice, in both legs. Surgerys followed but his boots were hung up. In his ripe old years now, he has decided that his footballing days aren’t over, and has been playing 7 a side for a few years. Now he graces his adidas classics on the turf of dreams. Not sure what’s older, his boots or him.

Jons comments about joining the team: One of the lads encouraged me to come down, saying that they feel experience was needed. I guess getting old now I fit that brief. I hope to help lead this team to the top of the table, win a trophy and secure promotion. I’ve also told the gaffer I’ll score every free kick too.

Gaffers comments: One of the experienced lads came to me and asked if he could bring down a few friends to help boost the experience side of the squad. At the time we had a young squad with just one or two experienced heads. His adidas classics with the flip over tongue screamed “talent” or “old age” but luckily in my case it was both. The talent is still there, and his old age allows the experience to shine. His calmness, his reading of the game and just the way he conducts and leads on the pitch with his football was enough for me to not let him leave that session without him putting pen to paper. I’ve seen 1 free kick hit the net. Let’s hope those free kicks keep hitting the back of the net.

Farnborough Raiders are delighted to announce another retained player to the 26/27 squad - Nathan Fray

Nathan is one of the OG’s of Farnborough Raiders. He joined us at the very beginning. He initially played football up in the East Midlands before moving down south in 2021. Doing what Nathan does as a job, he naturally brings versatility, bravery, strength, teamwork and leadership. A player who is a jack of all positions but a master at none… Nathan will play whatever position is needed within the squad whilst most recently honing down the CDM position before pulling the gloves on and showing his ability as a GK. Although, not a natural GK he looks comfortable, demands his box and brings fearlessness in between the sticks. He won our Clubman award last season, helping the gaffer and squad out wherever it was needed, kit, training equipment, lifts to and from the game (and pub). Nothing was too much.

We’re delighted to have Nathan continue with the club this season.

Nathan’s comments: Although last season wasn’t great my goals are to bring overall improvement and improve results this season. I’ve rejoined because I have a lot more to give to the club and to the team. I’ve really enjoyed my time here and am looking forward to building on last season and having a more successful season.

Gaffers comments: I’m delighted to retain Nathan to the squad. A natural leader to have around the squad. He gives me absolutely everything everytime he pulls the raiders top on. Nothing is ever too much for him and he’ll help me out whenever and wherever it is needed. It’s rare you get a player that can cover multiple areas on the pitch and do it well and look comfortable but Nathan gives me that. Whether it’s midfield or in the sticks, he never looks out of place.
