The roof is on!
Possibly one of the worst working days of my life. We put two lengths of 5x2m Perspex roofing on our ‘Swim Shed’ social area, in searing heat yesterday. It was relentless. My shirt was completely stuck to my back within 5 minutes of being there.
The only highlight of the day ( other than having a roof ) was a beautiful dip in the quarry. Water temp was stunning. Could have stayed in there for hours…

Amazing how this place changes, depending on the time of year. The Serpentine in the quarry really shows up in the water, as a green hue in the winter. The lower sun position hits the side of the quarry and turns a beautiful yellow.
Summer time, the water gets far clearer and the higher sun position eliminates most shadow.

We’ve gone again! Another wall part constructed. The Perspex roof is now next door…so definite progress is being made.

Bit of action! This was the first ‘wall’ going into place. Should have the rest of the ‘Swim Shed’ social area finished fairly sharpish.

Not too long left. Another wall on the side and back…and then the big finish with some work on the front of the building and front door…ohhhh…and the roof of course. Just waiting for the wind to settle down.
Once finished we’ll offer the same swims and sauna sessions, along with a dedicated social area for post-swimming chat.

Thought we'd give you a different perspective of the quarry.
Easy access via a fine-gravel beach or popping off the end of the pontoon. Maximum depth is approximately 6m, which gradually drops off...which means warmer than sea temps in the summer and colder than normal sea temps in the winter. Sauna is typically on waters edge, although we sometimes put it just around the corner in a really strong west wind. From waste depth entry to the far wall is 90m in length.
Parking is approximately 400m up the track, a track that is firm underfoot and usually involves a relaxing, woody walk down the track. The track can get a tad wet at the bottom, if we've had heavy rain.
Toilet and hot shower facilities are around 250m back up the track, cafe 350m back up.
Social area being built, directly opposite quarry entry...as are the changing facilities.
