Bo'ness United Community Warriors 3–1 Fc Sparta Glasgow
Sunday saw the lads welcome a very strong FC Sparta Glasgow side for the opening game of the Warriors’ season, and what a way to get the campaign underway.
The boys were determined to start the season with a statement, and they certainly didn’t disappoint, securing an impressive 3–1 victory in a highly competitive and entertaining encounter.
We started brightly and were rewarded for our early pressure when William Wilson produced some brilliant work down the wing, beating his man and creating the opportunity for Stephen O'Donnell who was on hand to calmly finish from close range and put the Warriors 1–0 ahead.
Sparta responded well and continued to pose a threat as the first half progressed. Just before the interval, they found an equaliser with a tap-in following an excellent save from Paul Mitchell leaving the sides level at the break.
After a strong half-time team talk from gaffer Willie Anderson the lads came out for the second half with renewed purpose and took control of the game.
The pressure soon paid off. Daz Doyle did brilliantly to turn his man before threading a perfectly weighted pass through to Dave Sanford. Sanford showed great pace and composure, embarking on a brilliant run before finishing in top-class fashion to restore the Warriors’ lead.
With the game finely poised, the introduction of Tony Johnston, making his return after a serious injury, provided another memorable moment, Conor Hanlon Laverty burst down the wing and delivered a pinpoint cross straight onto Tony’s head, with the big man making no mistake to send the ball into the net and make it 3–1.
From there, the lads managed the game superbly to see out an excellent victory and get the new season off to the perfect start.
An outstanding team performance from the Warriors, with every player putting in a huge shift and playing massive part in securing the three points.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support the lads — your backing is massively appreciated.
We’d also like to wish FC Sparta Glasgow all the very best for the remainder of the season.
Finally, a massive thank you to our sponsors for the season for their continued support. We genuinely couldn’t do it without you.
