Summertown Morris are a women's Cotswold Morris side formed in Autumn 2011. We dance in a number of traditions from the Oxfordshire villages of Ascott-under-Wychwood, Wheatley, and Ducklington. If anyone is interested in joining or coming along for a practice please get in touch - experience is welcome but not compulsory, and we'd love to see you. Our dancers are female, and we welcome musicians o

f all genders. We currently practice every Monday evening from 19:30 - 20:30 at the Cumnor United Reformed Church Hall OX2 9QF, but it's always worth messaging us to confirm beforehand.

We had a lovely time dancing in Abingdon at the weekend for the Election of the Mayor of Ock Street! Thank you to Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers for the invite, and it was lovely to see Oxford City and University Morris there too. 🐮

We're hiding from the heat this week, but will be back with two pub danceouts next week - on the 29th of June in Finstock, and the 1st of July in Sunningwell.

May may be out, but the morris season is only just beginning! We've got a few pub evenings this June with various of our friends, and are very excited to be joining Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers for their Mayor of Ock Street celebrations nearer the end of the month 🐮

We had a lovely time at Chippenham Folk Festival last Saturday, surviving the heat to dance with lots of lovely teams. Especially lovely were two massed dances with friends - Jockey to the Fair with Icknield Way Morris Men and Trunkles with Heaps Morris 🩵🩷

We've got a busy June ahead of us, the schedule will be out on Monday so you know where you can see us around!

11:15 - Three Crowns (with Icknield Way Morris Men)
12.45 - Upper High Street [NOT Rose and Crown] (with Cardiff Morris - Y Morys Caerdydd and Winterbourne Down Border Morris)
2:00-3:00 - In the parade (between Steampunk Morris and Mary Rose and Royal George Morris Dancers)
4:00 - Outside Olympiad (with Heaps Morris and Winterbourne Morris)

We had a lovely time dancing in Oxford for May Morning on Friday! If you didn't get up at 6am (reasonable!), here's where to see us over the next month:

We'll be joining our friends Eynsham Morris, Cry Havoc Botley Morris, Stroud Morris Dancers, Headington Quarry Morris Dancers, and Kirtlington Morris, and dancing at Chippenham Folk Festival on the Saturday - our first time there since before the pandemic, we can't wait!

We're dancing at Oxford Folk Festival this coming weekend, on Saturday 11th April! 🌾Our hometown festival is the perfect time to bring you our new dancers and new dances ahead of what is going to be our busiest season in ages! We'll be performing alongside lots of wonderful teams, and there's concerts, ceilidhs and sessions going on all weekend - definitely worth coming along for, event tickets on oxfordfolkfest.org.uk ! 🪗 💃🎻

10:30 - Oxford Castle & Prison
12:35 - Westgate Oxford (Leiden Square - the green space on the lowest floor)
2:15 - Broad Street (Balliol College end, closer to the centre of town!)
