Pro Insight Sessions #4 | Leadership
In this one Harvey is honest about losing his head on the pitch and how that affects the delivery of your communication on the field.
In the heat of the battle, when emotions are high and the game is on the line, it can be very difficult to get the message across. The instinct is to scream in someone’s face, to vent, to think they need to hear it right now, your way.
But Harvey’s point is the opposite. Speaking calmly and clearly, even with a smile, gives the team confidence and your message lands properly.
Easier said than done, though. Anyone who’s played a competitive game knows how hard it is to keep your head when things are going against you. The fact that someone playing at the very top of the game is openly working on this is the lesson in itself. The best players are never finished learning.
Thank you for being so open with our players.
