Last week it was round 2 of Daytona Motorsport Masters League season 2.

After narrowly missing out on the win last time, I was determined to claw back some championship points.

In qualifying I was 2nd again, only 0.116 away from pole.

However, I made a bad start and dropped to 3rd, where I would end up spending the whole race, with the only redemption being that I set the fastest lap of the race & that I kept up with the top 2, only 0.571 behind 1st at the line after 23 laps of racing.

Well done to Arun for the win and Anwar for 2nd. (Not pictured because he was straight into DMAX after) 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I’m disappointed with myself because I had the kart to get 1st but for whatever reason I just didn’t make full use of it this time and that is unacceptable from me, I expect better of myself and know that I’m better than this round showed.

I’m going to keep working on myself and figuring out where to improve because there is always something that can be improved and then I can start to actually defend this championship at the next round.

I will now switch focus to Lydd Kart Circuit this weekend where I have only my second race in owner karting, a Honda Senior championship lead to increase and hopefully a Honda Senior lap record to improve.

A month ago it was the first round of Daytona Motorsport Masters League Season 2.

Going into this I’m the reigning champion from Season 1, so naturally I’m going to be aiming for 1st again, add to that I’d just had a podium, 2 heat wins & a lap record at Lydd Kart Circuit in my first owner/driver race just 2 days before, I was feeling good about the new season.

However, there was a twist this time, I would be racing against double world champion Anwar Beroual Smith.

I qualified P2, only 0.113 off of Anwar’s pole time, it was going to be one of those races…

In the race, I was constantly on the bumper of P1, I did get a couple of chances to pass, one of them I definitely should’ve been more aggressive on the brakes than I was but that’s experience gained for the future.

In the end I stayed 2nd, only 0.153 behind 1st.

It was a good, clean race and definitely enjoyed the increased challenge, fair play to Anwar. 👏🏻

On a side note, it was also my 120th podium at Sandown.

PODIUM IN MY FIRST OWNER/DRIVER RACE!!!

Today I finally raced in my own kart for the first time in the new Honda Senior class at Lydd Kart Circuit.

In practice I went 3rd fastest.

In qualifying I got POLE!!!

In the heat race I got a rapid start, briefly lost the lead but got it back to win my first ever competitive race in owner/driver.

This also gave me pole for the pre-final, which I lead lights to flag to win by 2.625 seconds.

This meant I’d be pole again for the final, I lead for a while but unfortunately lost 1st & 2nd, however I started to come back late in the race, managing to set a new Honda Senior LAP RECORD of 45.040, I nearly snatched 2nd back at the line but was ultimately 3rd.

At the podium ceremony I was also awarded Driver of the day which was another career first for me, normally you have to be off the podium to get driver of the day but Lydd was nice enough to make a one-off exception as it was my first ever competitive race in owner karting.

This is a 13 year long dream come true to finally race and succeed in my own kart and it’s made me motivated for the first owner/driver win.

Even more special is that I get to claim this podium for my own team MAD DOG Racing. 🐶🥉🏅⏱️🏁🏎️

Also, a special mention to MAD DOG teammates Olly & Zack (also starting his own team LM Racing) for their help with kart setup and technical assistance.

On Wednesday, I decided to get a “new toy”, a Compkart from GMS Motorsport for the new Senior Honda class at Lydd Kart Circuit.

Following a successful test in the “taster kart” that saw me almost beat the GX-UK Senior Clubman lap record for very similar karts, I knew I wanted in.

This might be the third kart I own now but it’s special because this weekend, after 13 years of rental Karting and only getting to test owner karts, I will finally have my first owner/driver race this weekend at Lydd Kart Club which will also be the first time Honda Senior has actually raced.

2026 has already been a great year with finally getting a custom helmet, my 10th championship, a double win at Silverstone and my first Le Mans 24HR and now adding another kart to my collection, hoping to add even more before it’s over… 👊🏻😎🏁🏎️

2 weeks ago, I finally raced in a Le Mans 24HR for the first time at Karting des 24 Heures and with my own MAD DOG Racing team alongside regular teammates David & Diogo, new MAD DOG driver Kamran & guest drivers Laurence & Libby.

After several failed attempts at racing internationally and dreaming of racing at Le Mans since I started karting, I had to keep pinching myself that I was actually there. (This was my first time abroad since racing in Canada in 2018)

Driving out of the pits for Friday practice was a surreal feeling, after years of watching video of others I was finally experiencing it for myself and I also had my number 99 on the kart which made it even more special.

In Saturday practice I did my best lap of the whole weekend, a 59.491 which at the time was fastest in class & fourth overall.

The race itself was up & down, unfortunately some on the team picked up penalties throughout the race due to misunderstanding some rules which are a lot more complicated than in the U.K.

Each time I went out was again this weird feeling of a dream becoming reality, I had a few highlights throughout the race including some good overtakes, my favourite being a huge lunge into the T1 hairpin with some 2-stroke style trail braking, just about making the apex. 😂

Night time was interesting, I went back from the circuit, had 1 hour of sleep then straight back again, struggling to keep awake before going back on track, running purely on caffeine & adrenaline. 🤣

In the end we finished 10th in class, that already sounds “not bad” for a team at its first Le Mans, but after looking at the data, turns out that without the penalties we’d have been 3rd in class. 😤

But instead of being all negative, the fact we already had the pace for a podium says a lot and know we understand the rules better (we had to translate them from French), we’ll be back next year with the aim of actually being on that podium and hopefully, the top step. 👊🏻😎🏁🏎️

MAD DOG Racing Corporate Cup team wins OVERALL at KART Silverstone!!!

It was a mixed day for our 2 teams at Silverstone on Saturday for the second round of the 2026 Racing Awareness Championship supporting Cancer Research UK.

It was a busy event with a sell-out grid of 40 teams, 20 in Drivers Cup & 20 in Corporate Cup.

Our Drivers Cup (Pro Class) team showed ok pace in practice, going 7th fastest, however our Corporate Cup (Amateur Class) team struggled with what turned out to be a lack of power caused by the choke being left on their kart’s engine.

Team founder Reece Harris Racing started for the Drivers team with Silverstone SRK Challenge podium finisher Zack starting for the Corporate team, it was a chaotic first lap with Reece being forced over the grass dropping him to 40th (last) place, what followed was a recovery drive all the way to 8th place, the team founder showing why he is a 10x karting champion before handing over to Vivek for the second stint.

Zack meanwhile made the most of a kart that was still struggling with the aftermath of the choke being left on before handing over to David who also showed decent pace as the kart began to slowly improve.

For the third stint, Reece went back out, this time for the Corporate Cup team, while the kart was still down on power, enough of it returned that Reece could fight back in the braking zones and the corners, by the end of his stint his consistency had gained decent ground before handing over to Diogo for the last stint.

Steve meanwhile went out for the Drivers Cup team.

Late race drama saw penalties applied to several teams including the overall leaders in the final 2 minutes, the Corporate Cup team emerged from the “Panda-monium” in the overall lead which Diogo kept to the line to take his second career win and the team’s first at national level! The Drivers Cup team came home 8th in class.

Despite the drama of a post-race review, the result ultimately stood and the team claimed both the Corporate Cup & Overall trophies, if our maths are correct then we are now leading the Corporate Cup championship with 1 round to go…
