MAD DOG Racing Corporate Cup team wins OVERALL at KART Silverstone!!!

It was a mixed day for our 2 teams at Silverstone on Saturday for the second round of the 2026 Racing Awareness Championship supporting Cancer Research UK.

It was a busy event with a sell-out grid of 40 teams, 20 in Drivers Cup & 20 in Corporate Cup.

Our Drivers Cup (Pro Class) team showed ok pace in practice, going 7th fastest, however our Corporate Cup (Amateur Class) team struggled with what turned out to be a lack of power caused by the choke being left on their kart’s engine.

Team founder Reece Harris Racing started for the Drivers team with Silverstone SRK Challenge podium finisher Zack starting for the Corporate team, it was a chaotic first lap with Reece being forced over the grass dropping him to 40th (last) place, what followed was a recovery drive all the way to 8th place, the team founder showing why he is a 10x karting champion before handing over to Vivek for the second stint.

Zack meanwhile made the most of a kart that was still struggling with the aftermath of the choke being left on before handing over to David who also showed decent pace as the kart began to slowly improve.

For the third stint, Reece went back out, this time for the Corporate Cup team, while the kart was still down on power, enough of it returned that Reece could fight back in the braking zones and the corners, by the end of his stint his consistency had gained decent ground before handing over to Diogo for the last stint.

Steve meanwhile went out for the Drivers Cup team.

Late race drama saw penalties applied to several teams including the overall leaders in the final 2 minutes, the Corporate Cup team emerged from the “Panda-monium” in the overall lead which Diogo kept to the line to take his second career win and the team’s first at national level! The Drivers Cup team came home 8th in class.

Despite the drama of a post-race review, the result ultimately stood and the team claimed both the Corporate Cup & Overall trophies, if our maths are correct then we are now leading the Corporate Cup championship with 1 round to go…

1st in class AND overall!!!

On Saturday I made the 3+ hour journey north to Silverstone for round 2 of the 2026 Racing Awareness Championship, this time in support of Cancer Research UK

I would again be racing in both classes, Drivers Cup (Pro) & Corporate Cup (Amateur) for my own team MAD DOG Racing .

The Corporate Cup team was 3rd in its championship after our 3rd in class at our home round at Sandown while the Drivers Cup team was 5th in points.

It was a busy event with a full grid of 40 teams (20 of each class) on track at the same time.

Practice (not qualifying as the grid is decided by fundraising) was a mixed session, the Drivers Cup team went 7th fastest while the Corporate Cup team struggled with what eventually turned out to be the choke being left on our engine. 🤦‍♂️😂

Both teams started towards the back as we didn’t do any fundraising before the event, I started for the Drivers Cup team, unfortunately on lap 1 I was forced onto the grass at turn 3 to avoid a pile up and navigated a massive dust cloud (others ahead were forced over the grass too) which dropped me to 40th and last, from there I just focused on overtaking as many karts as possible and by the end of my stint I’d got us all the way up to 8th!

I then handed over to Steve & Vivek for the rest of the race as they’re both lighter than me.

Zack also did well for the Corporate Cup team considering the kart was still at its worst on the first stint.

After a short break I went back out, this time taking over from David for the Corporate Cup team, the kart was gradually improving but still down on power, however it improved enough that even though I was losing some ground on the straights, I was able to get it back under braking and through the turns, one corner in particular I discovered a technique that allowed me to brake WAY later than anyone else and still make the apex to the point I’d be almost pushing a kart on exit that had gapped me on the straight before.

By the time I pitted and handed over to Diogo for the final stint, we’d made up some decent ground, then in the closing stages of the race, chaos happened as multiple teams were given penalties, the Corporate Cup team was now not only leading in class but was 2nd overall!

Then in the final 2 minutes, a miracle… the first place team were also given a penalty which promoted our AMATEUR division team to the OVERALL lead, at first I thought it was a glitch on the leaderboard but then heard on commentary that we had actually won overall!
🤯🏆🏆🏁🏎️

(Apparently the commentators & the live stream comments were going crazy! Even more hilarious is that one of the commentators was apparently also known as “Mad Dog”. 😂)

However, we then had to wait for nearly 2 hours as the result was being reviewed and apparently some were complaining (Respect to the commentator for saying “if you’re unhappy about it, try not being unhappy.” 🤣), at the end of the day it’s a charity race, not F1.

However, after what some compared to the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP 😂, it was confirmed that the result stood.

As the race was supporting a Cancer Charity, I would like to dedicate this result to my Uncle Ray who we lost to Cancer while I was racing in Canada 8 years ago as he also funded some of my early karting career. 🙏🏻

Also a first win at national level for MAD DOG Racing! (it might be a charity event but there were entries from all over the country)
🐶🏆🇬🇧🏁🏎️

Finally, something I thought I would NEVER get to say because of lacking the money to race cars… I’ve won a race at Silverstone!

Didn’t make it home until 2 AM but worth it, hopefully we can repeat this success at the Karting des 24 Heures Le Mans 24HR this weekend…

This is something I was beginning to think I’d never be able to say…

I’m racing in a Le Mans 24HR and with my own team MAD DOG Racing !!!

👊🏻😎🇬🇧➡️🇫🇷🏁🏎️

🚨BIG ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

MAD DOG Racing will be making its Karting Le Mans 24HR debut at Karting des 24 Heures!!!

Leading the team is founder Reece Harris Racing who is joined by full-time MAD DOG drivers Diogo Leal, David Amato (his third Le Mans 24HR) & our newest member of the team, Kamran Moussazadeh as well as guest drivers Laurence Seagrave & Libby Woolven who join us as a one off for Le Mans.

Also a special mention to Charles Boniface #14 for being our strategist again.

Ever since MAD DOG was imagined, it was always a goal to race in a Le Mans 24 Hour race so to already be accomplishing this a little over a year after the team was launched is incredible, hopefully we can add to the podium in our first international event at last year’s CRG Rental Kart World Contest in Italy where we placed 2nd in the Silver Endurance Cup, although that was with different drivers.

All drivers are excited for this special event and whatever happens it’s another milestone for the team & drivers alike.

We also welcome “The Timeless Tour” as a partner for Le Mans, who offer tours of London in a 1950s Rolls-Royce.

The team is set, all organising work is done, time to chase the dream…

Another exciting event coming up at KART Silverstone and I’m again doing “double duty” on both of my teams, can’t wait. 👊🏻😎🏁🏎️

All for a good cause supporting Cancer Research UK as well, 8 years ago I lost an uncle to cancer who also helped fund my early karting career, so I want a pair of good results for them.

This Saturday is round 2 of the 2026 Racing Awareness Championship in support of Cancer Research UK at KART Silverstone.

Both of our teams will be running the same line-ups as round 1 which supported ADHD UK at Daytona Motorsport Sandown Park.

In the Drivers Cup (Pro Class), team founder Reece Harris Racing again joins fellow Sandown regulars Steve Hannon & Vivek Bhalla with the aim of improving on a top 5 at their home round and getting a first podium of the series.

In the Corporate Cup (Amateur Class), Reece is again driving on both teams alongside Zack Llewellyn-Morris who already has a podium at Silverstone with 2nd in the SRK Challenge round there in June after also winning both heats as well as Diogo Leal who recently achieved his first career win in the final round of Masters League at Sandown and David Amato who recently reached 100 career podiums, together they will aim to build on their 3rd place at round 1 (a satisfying result at an event supporting ADHD as 3 of the drivers have ADHD themselves) with at least another podium (hopefully a win) to consolidate their top 3 position in the championship standings.

We’re looking forward to another enjoyable event and as well as the challenge of starting at the back (the grid is decided by fundraising), we have the additional challenge of “Panda-monium” rules to navigate, it should be interesting…

We’re kicking off our 2026 driver spotlights with our founder and lead driver: Reece Harris Racing

Since launching the team in June last year, he has managed the team to a 2nd place finish at the CRG Rental Kart World Contest and this year has already contributed a podium in the Racing Awareness Championship where after a double shift in both classes he captained the Corporate Cup team to 3rd in class and the Drivers Cup team to 5th.

Additionally Reece has also won the team’s first title of 2026 after a hard fought duel in the inaugural Daytona Sandown Park Masters League and recently tested a Senior Honda kart at Lydd, adding to his owner/driver experience.

The future looks even more promising…
