Last week was round 6 of Daytona Motorsport Masters League.

In qualifying it was a repeat of the previous day’s open race, an all MAD DOG Racing front row with Diogo on pole and me in 2nd, only 0.069 behind.

In the race it was a tight, 4-way battle for the lead all race long, I finally saw my chance in the final 5 minutes of the race and took the lead with a textbook switchback at T4, holding on to take my second Masters League win in a row (making me the first ever to win consecutive rounds) and my third in total as well as yet another fastest lap with a 51.467, next closest was Diogo with a 51.515.

This was a great result for my championship going into the month long break before round 7, an important step closer to my tenth championship and relived to win such a crazy race.

Bring on the next one…

Thankfully we ended last Monday on a positive.

Diogo & Reece Harris Racing made it another MAD DOG front row lockout in qualifying.

Despite some chaos in the race including deliberate contact from a lapped driver on the final lap, they still came home 2nd & 3rd for a double podium, with Reece even leading the race a couple of times despite being a heavy class driver in this unweighted event.

Great effort. 👏🏻

After a disappointing endurance in the morning, we made a last minute decision to jump into an open race at Daytona Motorsport Sandown Park before going home.

It was another MAD DOG Racing 1-2 in qualifying with Diogo on pole and me qualifying 2nd.

I made a good start and even led the race at multiple points, I was 3rd going into the final lap but unfortunately Diogo was deliberately hit by a lapped driver, somehow I emerged from the chaos in 2nd, meanwhile the lapped driver’s deliberate contact backfired and they ended up stuck in the tyre wall while Diogo held on to a podium in 3rd.

So still a double podium for MAD DOG, we aim to go one better next time…

(On a side note, not bad for a heavy class driver in an unweighted race)

Our driver roster for tomorrow’s eighth edition of Daytona Motorsport Sandown Park Battle of the Ages.

Team founder & Sandown legend Reece Harris Racing brings previous Battle of the Ages experience with a 4th place finish at the inaugural edition in 2023 as well as being the current points leader in Sodi Masters League, he will be aiming to go 3 better this time and get a second endurance podium at Sandown within a month.

Zack, MAD DOG’s youngest driver was a crucial part of our Racing Awareness Corporate Cup podium last month, running in the overall lead during his stint, hopefully more of the same this time.

Diogo, another driver who featured in our Corporate Cup team last month will also be looking for yet another trophy to add to his growing collection as he continues to prove himself another valuable addition to MAD DOG Racing.

Last week it was round 5 of Daytona Motorsport Masters League at Sandown, after a disastrous round 4 where I suffered with kart issues and lost the lead of the championship, I NEEDED a good result.

In qualifying I went fastest by 0.370 seconds to take my 90th pole at Sandown, Diogo joined me on the front row, making it a MAD DOG Racing 1-2 in qualifying.

During the race I held the lead for a few laps but eventually dropped to 2nd where I would spend most of the race until the penultimate lap…

After spending most of the race having the pace to retake P1 but not quite getting enough of a run, the leader was forced tight on the exit of the turn 3 hairpin by a lapped kart, I knew this would be my only chance to get 1st place back so I threw it down the inside of turn 4 hoping I wouldn’t make contact with P1 or overshoot the corner, I got through cleanly and just made it round then defended all the way to the checkered flag to take my second Masters League win, 80th win at Sandown & take back the lead of the championship.

I also got fastest lap giving me a bonus point and a perfect score.

Well done to 2nd place as that was the best race I’ve had in a very long time. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

As if winning the race wasn’t already nice enough, the local Pizza Express was sponsoring the round so I also won a free meal there which I’ll have to make use of at some point… 🍕🍕🍕

Looking forward to round 6, hopefully a repeat performance and another step closer to my 10th championship…

A few weeks ago at Daytona Motorsport Sandown Park I took part in the “Racing Awareness” for ADHD UK, entering my own team MAD DOG Racing in both the “Drivers Cup” (Pro Class) & the “Corporate Cup” (Amateur Class).

Went quick in practice with the “Amateur” class kart, unfortunately we were stuck with a slightly off pace kart in the “pro class”.

I started the race for the pro team where I went wheel to wheel with ex-F3 driver Josh Hill, son of the 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill. (Who I also bumped into after my first stint 😂)

I pitted early to maximise track time for my lighter teammates Vivek & Steve as this was an unweighted event.

After a short break I jumped in for the amateur team taking over from Dave which briefly led overall with Zack driving, I had a decent stint, even swapping places with Steve who was now out for the pro team, unfortunately I got stuck behind a very slow kart during a full course yellow which cost us a top 2, but apart from that it was an ok stint and I then pitted and handed over to Diogo who brought it home for a 3rd place in class and overall top 10.

Special mentions to the pro team who snatched a top 5 on the last lap after surviving the chaos following another full course yellow and also to Charles Boniface #14 who helped with strategy and even paid us a visit during the event.

Proud of everyone and feels great to finally get my first endurance podium since winning the 2023 Buckmore Park 12 Hour!

Also makes a first endurance podium with my own MAD DOG team (where I actually got to drive anyway), a podium at my home round of this national endurance series and also as someone with ADHD (as well as 2 of my teammates), it was nice to get a podium in an event that was dedicated to supporting those who have it and proving that ADHD doesn’t have to hold you back from achieving things if you find what you’re good at as well as highlighting that it’s a lifelong condition that you don’t simply “grow out of”, I dedicate this podium to that.

Despite only finishing 3rd at round 3 of Daytona Motorsport Masters League, I still went home with the biggest trophy that night… but how?

After the podium for the race I was surprised by Olly who gave me my team owner trophy for my team MAD DOG Racing finishing 2nd in the Endurance Cup at last year’s CRG Factory Rental Kart World Contest in Italy last October which I was supposed to drive in myself before my mum had medical problems which made travel impossible at the time.

The trophy base was also singed by Olly, Charles & my last minute replacement Karlis which was a nice touch.

Still proud of how MAD DOG Racing has already achieved this despite only being founded in June last year and although not yet as a driver (which I would prefer), I have still managed a world championship podium as a team owner which is something that cannot be taken away.

I will definitely be driving in it myself this year as we aim to go one better and win.

2 weeks ago it was round 3 of Daytona Motorsport Masters League at Sandown.

In qualifying I got pole for the second round in a row and by 0.696 seconds.

Unfortunately I was slow off the line and dropped to 3rd, I was faster but just couldn’t get enough of a run in the right places so finished 3rd, a little bit angry with myself so will be working on that for round 4.

However I still remain undefeated in fastest laps, having now achieved a hat-trick of them in the first 3 rounds.

As tomorrow’s race is for an ADHD charity, we feel it’s worth mentioning that our Corporate Cup (Amateur Class) team includes 3 drivers who have ADHD themselves, including the team founder.

So this event is extra important for us, we will give everything for the win.

Tomorrow we take on the Racing Awareness for ADHD UK at Daytona Motorsport Sandown Park, the first round of the 2026 Racing Awareness Championship, a series of charity karting events.

Team founder Reece Harris Racing is leading not one but TWO teams, one in the Drivers Cup (Pro Class) & one in the Corporate Cup (Amateur Class)!

He is joined in the Drivers Cup by fellow Sandown regulars Steve Hannon & Vivek Bhalla, with new full time MAD DOG drivers Diogo Leal & David Amato joining for the Corporate Cup along with MAD DOG’s most successful SRK Driver Zack Llewellyn-Morris, who has since stepped up to owner karting in GX-UK, making a one-off appearance for this round.
