🎉 **Congratulations to Leo on Achieving His Black Belt! 🥋** 🎉

We are beyond proud to celebrate the incredible journey of Leonardo, who started with us at KBT Academy as a Little Ninja and has recently achieved his Black Belt! 👏

Leo joined us at a young age, taking his first steps into Martial Arts with enthusiasm and dedication. From mastering the basics in our Little Ninjas programme (for 4-5 year olds), to advancing through the ranks in our Junior Taekwondo classes, Leo has shown remarkable discipline, focus, and perseverance every step of the way.

But that’s not all! In recognition of his leadership and skill, Leo has also become an Assistant Instructor, proudly wearing his blue suit. He now shares his knowledge with other students, guiding them through their techniques and acting as a fantastic role model. He’s a great help to the KBT Academy team, and his demonstrations inspire others to strive for their best. We have high hopes that one day, Leo will become a Full Instructor and perhaps even run his own school, passing on his passion and expertise to the next generation of Martial Artists. 🌟

Earning a Black Belt is a huge accomplishment that represents years of hard work, consistent training, and growth both on and off the mats. Leo has developed not just incredible martial arts skills, but also confidence, resilience, and leadership qualities that will continue to serve him throughout life. 💪

KBT Academy are pleased to announce the promotions of Masters Hurcombe, Cheeseman and Lloyd to 6th Degree.
Together they have accumulated over 80 years of training with the KBT Academy under the Instruction of Chief Master Plant.
Those of you that have known the above Instructors and are currently training with them will understand how each of them are dedicated to the Martial Arts and are outstanding in their own ways.
They are constantly working on their individual achievements and increasing their knowledge to deliver the best to KBT students. We are proud of your achievements and your years of loyalty and dedication to the arts.

We all need role models in our lives. For many the role model will be a parent or relative that you look up to. Possibly you look to people in the media. A politician or a football player perhaps. (Or judging by this weeks news, perhaps not)

At KBT we grow our own role models. In the photo here you see a young man that has taken on the role of Assistant Instructor. He’s there to demonstrate how to act, how to perform and how to lead.

It’s an important role and one that he takes seriously. He works hard to set an example and show consideration to those of junior rank. He makes them feel comfortable and secure. When a new student doesn’t know quite what to do he is by their side. If a technique needs more explanation he has the capability to show and tell.
He is the example.

We have adults and teens classes on Monday to Thursday evenings, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

More and more parents are talking to us about difficulties they are encountering with their 4 year old children.

They have said that they are not as confident as they would expect when dealing with new situations. That they are a little shy with adults that don’t know and are reluctant to try a new activity.

We are hearing this time and again!

The reason of course, is because for almost 2 years of their lives they have had to stay away from almost everything outside of the family house.

When they have met an adult they cant see their face because of a Covid mask.

Now we have to extra cautious when starting a new venture with our children.

At KBT Academy we have classes for 4 to 5 year olds called “Little Ninjas”. It sounds a cool name doesn’t it?
We work on confidence, fun, self esteem, fun, self discipline, fun and much,much more.

Now the secret to our success is that we ask a parent/ guardian to join in with their children on the mats.
You are there to keep them happy, learn the listening positions with them, hold a strike pad if required, laugh with them and praise them, and if you feel up to it, show them occasionally how you kick and punch and in doing so, demonstrate how great you are. ( Come on! you did it when watching Karate Kid on Netflix this week)

It’s a simple solution. We teach the martial arts and you help them catch up on two years of life without a sport or hobby.

Together we will get back that confidence and set them up for a great school life.

4 to 5 year olds don’t need long lengthy classes! They loose concentration very quickly as you well know.

There may be some Covid regulations to re-assess and will let you know as the Government decides what the next step is.
It’s a beautiful sunny day today. The perfect weather to get some fresh air and do something exciting before the big Christmas Day.
What training can you start right now to keep you moving forward.
How about 10 kicks on each leg doing every kick that you have training for.
Then 3 x 3 minute rounds of shadow boxing.
Follow up with 3 x 3 minute rounds of shadow kicking.
You’re the Instructor today! Mack up your own routine.
Don’t forget to warm up and cool down.
