Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning at the Enfield Grief Cafe - so lovely to see some new faces alongside those who have attended before.

Grief can be a lonely place, and these spaces that allow connection, conversation, tears and laughter are so important.

We'll be back at the DAC for the next grief cafe on Saturday 11th July. Please do reach out if you want to find out more.

As always, a big thanks to Dee from Blake & Horlock Funeral Directors for co-hosting the grief cafe with me, and to Zoey for your ongoing support and enthusiasm

Final decisions in progress for the windphone structure before installation.

Nature seems to love the natural stainless steel finish so maybe I'll stick with that :)

I joined Lesley and the lovely team at East London Cemetery & Crematorium this morning for their mid-week community walk around the grounds of East London Cemetry and Crematorium. The site is beautiful, so full of stories and history, and I was able to see inside the stunning 19th century cremation and burial chapels. We braved the downpour - seems like the wildlife liked it too (spot the crow in the fountain)!

We're making plans for their upcoming Wellness Festival in September - more news to follow. So grateful to be a part of it ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at the grief cafe this morning.

Grief needs to be witnessed, and it's an honour to be in a space where grief, love, laughter and tears can be shared and gently held. This morning the conversations ranged from anticipatory grief before a loss, through to continuing bonds, and ways to keep memories alive. Every conversation is welcomed, as is silence.

A big thank you to Dee and Tracey from Blake & Horlock Funeral Directors for co-hosting the grief cafe with me, and making sure everyone felt supported and heard.

We'll be back at on Saturday 13th June. Please do reach out if you have any questions about the grief cafe, what to expect, or whether it feels right for you

Grief must be witnessed.
Too often it lives in the shadows, pushed aside as we struggle through the everyday, questioning and doubting our feelings and experiences.

When we witness grief, welcome it in to sit alongside us, this presence, this acknowledgement, is so powerful. Grief is a part of who we are, our new story.

But the lack of visibilty and the difficulty we have as a society in talking about death and grief, can make the process of grieving scary and isolating.

Grief support shouldn't be a luxury.

>> This month I'm making four 60 minute grief support spots on zoom available for four people who need them.
- No cost
- No pressure
- No obligation to sign up for any further support.
- No fixing, no judging.
- Just a safe, gentle space.
- Together we'll meet your grief where it's at and gently tend to it.

You can find the link in my bio to book in.
If you have any questions please reach out.

If you're based in North London, on Saturday you can also join me at the Enfield Grief Cafe at Dugdale Arts Centre

Welcome January.

Beautiful words to take into the new year by Donna Ashworth:

When I say ‘happy new year’,
I’m not for a moment,
expecting this to occur,
for that is not possible,
a year must be all things.

Happiness must come and go,
like the tides and the winds,
just as sadness,
and all the emotions in between.

When I say ‘happy new year’,
I’m really wishing you,
a baseline of peace,
of gratitude.

Because if you can sit with these things,
for the most part,
happiness will thrive,
when it does arrive,
and sadness will know its place in the mix.

If you can nourish these things,
daily,
you will also grow hope,
for it flourishes in such soil.

And hope is the key,
to this enigmatic state
of ‘happiness’ we seek.

When I say ‘happy new year’,
I’m really wishing you more happy days,
than sad days,
more joy than misery,
more laughter than tears…
and the wisdom to accept,
that they all belong.

Seven reminders for those who are grieving...or anyone else feeling the overwhelm this year.

There are no quick fixes from grief - we don't read an instagram or facebook post and suddenly find everything is ok. The list of the 'five best techniques for....' that suddenly make it better ...don't exist.

But we can find community, we can find support, and we can realise it's not just us feeling this way, and that it's ok to feel it all. We might discover small actions we can try, to see which are a good fit for us, the things that help just that little bit. Because grief support isnt a one size fits all approach. Our grief is as unique as we are.

For those not feeling so merry and bright, scroll to the final image slide for details of support services available throughout the Christmas period (in the UK)...remember you're never alone.

Wishing everyone a restful Christmas ❤️
Kate x
