Still World-Class in 2026.
Four years ago, we constructed the World Athletics Class 1 track at Alexander Stadium for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

This week, that same track is back at the heart of international athletics, hosting the European Athletics Championships – the first ever staged in Britain.

World Athletics Class 1 is the highest certification for an outdoor athletics facility. In 2022, more than 30 Commonwealth Games records were broken on the track we installed. Today, Europe’s best athletes are competing on it.🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

For us, that’s something to be proud of – and powerful evidence of the quality our sports construction team delivers: performance at the highest level, year after year.

In 2014, our Contracts Manager Olly Jolliffe led the construction of a new FIFA-approved 3G pitch for Royal Holloway, University of London.

Our Maintenance Division then cared for the pitch throughout its first surface lifecycle, helping it provide a decade of safe, consistent performance.

In 2025, the University invited us back to resurface it—continuing a trusted relationship and renewing the facility for the next generation of students.

Testing confirmed that the original shock-pad still met the required performance standards, allowing it to be reused for a second surface lifecycle — exactly as intended when we designed and built the pitch.

From construction and maintenance to resurfacing, our whole-life approach helps clients maximise the performance and long-term value of their sports facilities.

When we first partnered with Latymer Upper School, our goal wasn’t simply to deliver a high-quality hockey pitch—it was to build a relationship through collaboration, transparency, and exceptional project management.

Sometimes, the biggest project challenges come before construction begins.

Before work could begin on Wellington College’s impressive new tennis court development, planning challenges first had to be overcome.
Working closely with the College from the earliest stages, our Head of Professional Services, Nick Seymour, helped guide the project through the design and planning process before our construction team brought the vision to life.

The result is 12 beautiful new colour-coated tennis courts, also marked for netball, providing a first-class facility for sport, competition and recreation.
Every successful project starts with the right foundations. Sometimes, those foundations are laid long before construction begins.

Investing in Our People to Strengthen Safety, Quality and Sustainability

Great projects are built by great people. That’s why we’re delighted to announce the promotion of Jordan Ostrowski to Group Head of SHEQ for The Slatter Group.

Since joining S&C Slatter in 2021, Jordan has strengthened our Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality management systems, maintained our ISO certifications and helped embed a culture of continual improvement that benefits our people, clients and partners.

Following the recent appointment of Freddie Hobden as SHEQ Advisor, Jordan’s promotion reflects our continued investment in the people, systems, and leadership that underpin safe, high-quality, project delivery.

In his new role, Jordan will lead SHEQ across both S&C Slatter and White Horse Contractors, aligning standards, strengthening governance and driving continual improvement across The Slatter Group.

A new chapter for Newcastle Red Bulls.

Following a detailed review of the available surface options, we’re delighted to be working with Newcastle Red Bulls on the replacement of their existing artificial playing surface.

As part of the club’s decision-making process, a comprehensive market review was undertaken, including research into leading artificial turf systems and discussions with other elite sporting facilities to assess performance, quality, durability and player experience first-hand.

Following this process, the existing surface is being transformed with Tarkett Sports’ premium FieldTurf Vertex CORE system, providing a high-performance facility designed for both today’s demands and the future growth of the club.

S&C Slatter is proud to have completed the Memorial Garden at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus.

Located at the end of the former WWII runway from which Allied troops departed to help liberate Europe on 5th June 1944, the garden provides a lasting space for reflection and remembrance. The project was completed in time for the commemorative ceremony held at the campus this weekend, marking the anniversary of D-Day.

Designed by landscape designer Adam Frost, this is another example of The Slatter Group successfully bringing a high-profile landscape vision to life through expert construction and delivery.

This scheme highlights the breadth of expertise across The Slatter Group, with S&C Slatter acting as principal contractor and White Horse Contractors supporting the delivery of this meaningful placemaking project. Working collaboratively, the teams transformed the space into a fitting tribute to those who served and sacrificed.
