Ellistown FC 4 Desford FC 0

Following an increasing trend of football teams only posting results after winning which is the reason why for the 1st time in 2 years your match reporter can say Ellistown have won 3 consecutive league games.

Ellistown won their 6th league game of the season when they went to head to head with a scrambling Desford side and came out 4-0 winners in a tense local miners derby.

In a game where defeat meant relegation both clubs never held back and in 1st half played in the right sprit, it was Desford FC who took control but could not break down our superb defensive line of Captain and leader Kyle Warren, George Smith, Michael Hills and legend James Jepson.

Behind them in goal was Harry Taylor who played on 1 leg.

We sensed the longer Desford went without scoring the more chance we could nick a goal as they would tire. You could see how much this game meant for both sides.

Shouted on by Manager Scott Taylor who had an excellent game in the dug out, supported by Connor Goddard, we grew into the game as the 1st half wore on and you could see Desford start to lose confidence.

Based on recent performances both teams should be well clear of relegation but the season is over 9 months.

Half-Time went with Ellistown knowing they had executed the game plan and now needed to go on the front foot.

EFC 0-0 DFC 0 HT

What a 2nd half from the lads as we took control from the kick-off.

Midfield generals, Aaron Turner, Harry Aspen-Mansfield, Zach Smalley and George Etherington took control of the game. Cam Faxon up-front started to bully the back line and sub Dan Blake became a nuisance up front.

Dan had come on for Jayden Garfoot who put in a superb defend from the front performance before injury got him.

We took the vital lead on 53 mins when George Etherington shot home from 20 yards.

The home fans that included our friends from Loros went mad.

EFC 1 DFC 0 53 mins

We knew Desford would come at us and they did not disappoint but when your at the bottom as we know, you get no luck.

The game swung in our favour on 71 mins when George Etherington grabbed his 2nd by heading home from a disputed corner.

Discussions after the goal left Desford down to 10 men with the keeper seeing red.

EFC 2 DFC 0 71 mins

Alex Carter came on to give us fresh legs and our cause was helped by a further Desford red card.

How would our young side adapt. They stepped up to the occasion by scoring the 3rd on 75 mins when lack of numbers allowed Aaron Turner to have the freedom of the Pallex Stadium to slot home unmarked.

EFC 3 DFC 0 75 mins

Further subs gave Kaleb Mead and Lance Mayo vital minutes.

To there credit, Desford never gave up but as you expect we were flying and the 4th came on 86 mins when George Smith finished from close range.

EFC 4 DFC 0 86 mins.

This was the best Ellistown performance for a number of years as we improved on last Wednesdays performance.

EFC 4 DFC 0 FT

Results elsewhere meant regardless who won today, the odds on surviving are in the 100s/1 category. You can get simaliar odds for Arsenal to blow a 9 pt lead at top of the Premier league with 6 games to go (O hang on!!!!).

So we are hanging onto our Premier league status and the Great Escape is still on.

Meanwhile, everyone connected with Ellistown can be proud of yesterday and I know the kids from Loros enjoyed themselves while the charity coffers were improved. Thank you to everyone who donated.

Now the serious bit. The football club can confirm we have banned our Chairman from our last game of the season.

Having a stag weekend and getting married on matchdays is a school boy error. Andrew Roach, hope you enjoyed Serbia, the team done you proud. We will be thinking of you at Hathern on 2nd May when your walking up the aisle.

Ellistown FC 4 Magna 73 FC 2

Following an increasing trend of football teams only posting results after winning which is the reason why for the 1st time in 2 years your match reporter can say Ellistown have won 2 consecutive league games.

Ellistown won their 5th league game of the season when they went to head to head with a good Magna side and came out 4-2 winners.

In a game where both clubs never held back and played in the right sprit, it was Ellistown FC who were on the front foot and took the lead when Jaydon Garfoot shot into an empty net.

Magna equalised straight away when from a corner, the ball hit the Ellistown Pitch bobble and out foxed our defence to sneak in the near post.

1-1 in a game Ellistown had to win.

With the excellent Luke Hodgson making his debut in goal having a stormer behind a defence of Kai Abrahams, Michael Hills, captain/leader, Kyle Warren and the legend who is James Jepson (more about him later) our defence reset and were excellent for rest of the game.

Our midfield work horses of Aaron Turner, Harry Aspen-Mansfield, George Etherington and Zach Smalley ensured we never lost the midfield battle.

Up front, Jaydon Garfoot and Ellis Gascoigne kept returning step 5 Keeper Austin Parish on his toes. Congratulations to Austin for reaching step 5.

For the netural this was an end to end game of football.

For our supporters it was heart in mouth as we understood what's at stake.

Half-time came and everyone calmed down unaware of what's coming.

The 2nd half was 15 mins old when Ellistown presented Magna with a penalty to make it 1-2.

Home fans were now checking out next seasons potential Div 1 fixtures.

Lucky our management team were having non of that and made crucial subs, throwing on George Smith, Cameron Faxon, Conor Connor Page, Dan Blake and Alex Carter.

It was George Smith who started the comeback on 62 mins when he headed home from close range.

2-2 could we go on and win it. Yes as George scored again on 67 mins to put town 3-2 ahead with just over 20 to play. Credit to Hatherns best player Chris Sykes who was supporting George from the sidelines.

As you expect, Magna came at us and only heroic defending perseved our lead.

Crucial point of the game came on 80 mins when a foul on Cameron Faxon in the box gave us a chance to make it 4-2.

Up stepped legend James Jepson who took all the pressure off the lads to smash the ball home.

James is a legend in football circles and has done it all. That includes putting Ellistown 4-2 up with 10 mins to go.

Again Magna came at us and we all expected them to make it 4-3. But the 3rd never came and it was party time when the excellent Gavin Hill blew for full-time.

Credit also goes to Gavins assistants Ellis Hewins and Jakub Miller who let the game flow.

With the great escape being blasted out of the speakers, Ellistown for 2nd consecutive game enjoyed the post match drinks.

Now we reset for another must win game on Saturday at home to our neighbours Desford.

Thurnby Rangers FC 1 Ellistown Football Club 2

Following an increasing trend of football teams only posting results after winning which is the reason why Ellistown Football Club has been quiet in March.

Today Ellistown won their 4th league game of the season when they went to and beat Thurnby Rangers 2-1 in a required gritty performance.

In a game where both clubs never held back and played in the right sprit, it was Ellistown FC who were on the front foot but Thurnby should have taken the lead when the striker was one v one against our keeper Harry Taylor who was playing on one leg. Harry won and proved he is good on one leg as two.

After that chance, on 22 mins, Ellistown went up the field and scored when super star Kai Abrahams scored from close range.

TR 0 EFC 1 22 mins.

1 became 2 3 mins later when a James "David Beckham" Jepson cross was meet by a Michael Hills bullet header.

TR 0 EFC 2 25 mins

We were in dreamland and should have been further ahead at the break with Aaron Turner and Dan Blake causing havoc up front.

With the returning James Jepson rolling back the years with an excellent game at the back, supported by Captain, Leader, Legend Kyle Warren, Micky Hills and Alex Carter, we were never in danger.

Back 4 were protected by man of match, Harry Aspen-Mansfield, Zach Smalley and George Etherington in midfield.

TR 0 EFC 2 HT

Our half-time team talk was easy, we listened to Thurnbys team talk which was coming though loud and clear into our dressing room.

During this time, our Manager Scott Taylor was cool, calm and collective and said we will have to push back the Thurnby fire and wear them down.

This is what we done and smart subs saw Weeragram Boonsiri, Haydon Garfoot, Marcus Nichie and Kaleb Mead coming on to provide fresh legs.

Both teams huffed and puffed in the 2nd half and Thurnby made it a nervous last 10 mins when they halved the deficit.

TR 1 EFC 2 80 mins.

We had a few scares but held on for a brilliant away win that keeps the great escape alive.

TR 1 EFC 2 FT

Many thanks to Thurnby for their 1st class hospitality. Class club on and off the pitch.

Credit also to John Carr, Kevin French and Lee Smart who officiated the game with common sense which allowed the game to flow.

Following an increasing trend of football teams only posting results after winning which is the reason why Ellistown Football Club has been quiet since December.

Today Ellistown won their 3rd league game of the season when they went to and beat Lutterworth Athletic Reserves 2-0 in our best performance of the season.

Congratulations to Lutterworth for reaching the Senior Cup Final. Therefore we knew they were going to be confident.

Therefore, no surprise for the 1st 18 mins Ellistown had to be compact in defense and that we were.

Our problem this season is not taking our chances.

Not today as a bullet header from a corner by Pele Molyneaux gave Ellistown a surprise lead.

0-1 19 mins.

This was not a total back to the wall performance as the excellent Cam Faxon and 17 year old Ellis Gascoigne lead the line like seasoned pros and were causing Lutterworth back line problems.

Our midfield and defence were so good, our Keeper only had to make a couple of saves in the 1st half.

0-1 HT

Lutterworth came at us at beginning of 2nd half and Harry Taylor with some brilliant saves most be a shoe in as England's keeper at the world cup.

We continued to defend like lions. With the back line of Kai Abrahams, Aaron Turner, Michael Hills, Samir El Houmedhi and Pele Molyneaux putting everything on the line.

The midfield continued to compete with George Etherington holding and that allowed Harry Pemberton to take control and dictate play with Kai and Aaron playing the wing back role to perfection.

Even though Lutterworth kept banging at the door they could not break it down.

On 70 mins, we took our second chance as Harry Pemberton reminding you of Eddie Gray as he burst through Midfield and let fly from just within the box, giving the keeper no chance.

0-2 70 mins.

The 2nd goal gave the lads more energy and while our crossbar and football meet on numerous occasions and keeper Harry playing like Gordan Banks v Pele. We began to control the game.

Our unsung hero this season and super sub Marcus Nichie went up front and looked a natural and could have had a couple goals as we hit Lutterworth on the break.

Lance Mayo, Harry Mansfield and Weeragram Boonsiri came on providing fresh legs.

With the Ellistown faithful screaming for full-time. The excellent Michael Scriven blew for full-time with a final score of.

Lutterworth Athletic Res 0 Ellistown FC 2

Everybody deserved the win today and key now we take this performance into next week's must win game v Highfield Rangers.

Following an increasing trend of football teams only posting results after winning which is the reason why Ellistown Football Club has been quiet since October.

Today Ellistown won their 1st home league game since 24th August 2024 when they beat Cottesmore 3-2 in a relegation 9 pointer.

Against the run of play Cottesmore took the lead on 14 mins (0-1). Then our new centreback warhorse James Jepson took over and only a world class save from the Cotts keeper stopped James scoring from a 35 yard free-kick.

With James showing is experience on the pitch and new captain, leader, legend Kai Abrahams driving the team forward we equalised on 33 mins through a belter from Dan Blake (1-1).

Then Macdonalds Man Of The Match Harry Taylor took over with some criical saves as both sides decided attack was the best form of defence. I know Harry will enjoy his Big Mac and Chips.

Pele Molyneaux replaced Connor Martin on 35 mins. Connor playing through the pain barrier.

1-1 HT with the game up for grabs.

Cotts started the 2nd on the attack and Town had to dig in and that they done through the excellant defensive qualities of James, Pele and Michael Hills who had his best game of the season.

Led by Connor Page and Zach Smalley in midfield and supporting by Harry Mansfield and Aaron Turner who proved you can play the kids we slowly won the midfield battle.

Llyas Boumedhi replaced Alt Bakram on 57 mins. Alt like Dan Blake put in a great shift up front. A crucial sub in the end.

Marcus Nichie replaced James Jepson on 72 mins and Vincent Sam replaced Dan Blake on 83 mins providing fresh legs and pace.

With the game on a knife edge and both teams knowing a draw is not good enough the clock ticked over to 89 mins when the game went mentle.

Hand ball in the area gave Ellistown FC the chance to win the game.

We have a poor record with penalty kicks but no one told Pele Molyneaux who stepped up and rolled the ball into the next (2-1).

Could we hang through the 7 mins of injury time. 4 mins in, a Cotts defensive error let in Zach Smalley who squared the ball to Llyas Boumedh who smashed it into back of the net (3-1). This led to the secretary Mourinho style running up and down the touchline in celebration. Even the Chairman smiled.

Cotts scored to make it 3-2 with the last kick of the game.

Final score 3-2 to town and a crucial victory that keeps us in touch with teams at the bottom.

Credit to everyone connected to Ellistown, this was a superb team effort which we need to do again next week.

Respect to the officials Steph Heck, Gavin Hill and Rick Greatwood who were superb and Cottesmore who stayed behind after the final whistle.

Up the town.

Ellistown hit their best league form since December 2024 with a 2-2 away draw v Friar Lane & Epworth. Making it 4pts from 6.

Goals from Daniel Davies and Pele "Bobby Moore" Molyneaux. One an opener and the other an equaliser.

As usual Friar Lane & Epworth were fantastic hosts.

It was good to catch up with Joe French.

Friar Lane & Epworth 2 Ellistown 2.

Can we go ubeaten next week v Khalsa and send our secretary through the history books again.

Up the town.

Following an increasing trend of football teams only posting results after winning which is the reason why Ellistown Football Club has been quiet.

After 14 successive defeats, no league wins since February, hitting bottom of the table and 3 different management teams, we rocked up at Desford for the miners derby as massive underdogs.

2 goals from Zac Smalley and a last minute icing on the cake from Aaron Turner gave Town a fully deserved 3-1 away victory.

Well done Scott Taylor and the coaching team. Its been a tough start to the season but you've never lost faith in what your doing.

Well done to all the players today. We played like a team of brothers and your a credit to the club.

As usual Desford were fantastic hosts.

Scott Taylor, we are expecting you to return those early morning calls.

Its Ellistown's day in the Derby and let's enjoy the weekend.
