MHC Ladies VS Gordonstun X1 Ladies, 08.09.2026

Another loss for the Moray Ladies, though that hasn’t dampened their spirits at all, not even the rain could wash out their pride for how well the team played last night.

A solid performance throughout. The ladies kept a calm and steady composure against a much younger and sprightly team.

Though the score may be a disappointing outcome, our coach and captains believe it does not reflect how well the ladies played, it was a fun match for all.

Our Player of the match is none other than Frankie!
With her excellent performance in defence. She cleared so many balls and won nearly every tackle and play. Kept the ball moving and also had a very lovely shot in the short corner- excellent work. 🫶🏻🏆🌟

Well done ladies, onwards and upward!

Granite City Wanderers 3’s 4-0 Moray Hockey Club

Sunday saw the Moray Hockey Ladies Team take on their first match of the north district development league.

At Rubislaw pitch, we played the wonderful Granite City Wanders ladies 3’s. .
It was a disappointing, but agreeable outcome for the moray ladies with a 4-0 loss.
GCW 3’s held out strong and were for formidable team, getting two goals in the first quarter. Then a further two as the match went on.

As in usual fashion for MHC ladies, we continued to play better as time progressed. Playing our best in the 2nd Quarter and challenging the GCW defence, getting up past the half way line and into the D. Ultimately, the home team secured the win.

Though it was a tough match, our coach and captains have a positive attitude, knowing we can only progress! A special mention to our midfield’s, who truly had their legs ran off them!

Talking about mid-fields, our player of the match, goes to Georgia Officer, who carried the game with poise, determination and discipline. Her performance on Sunday was incredible, and the potm is most deserved. (And probably a good rest, considering she ran nearly 8k!)

Regardless of the loss, the ladies team had a wonderful day in aberdeen and it was a great privilege to play the GCW 3’s who we’d like thank for their excellent sportsmanship.

A narrow loss for MHC Men’s first league venture but a well fought match for both sides. Congrats !

Statement from Coach Aaron - “We began with a half-court press to test the waters against an unknown side. This made it difficult for the opposition to break us down to begin with. This ended with our own Harrison scoring the opening goal of the match. Aberdeen then equalised before the end of Q1. Later Aberdeen managed to squeeze in two more goals in Q3 despite a strong defence. Winning a short corner in Q3, captain Ben rifled a ball into the goal to bring MHC to 2-3. Q4 was hard fought as we seeked an equaliser but it was not to be. Moray may have narrowly missed out on the result, but the performance provided plenty of positives to take into the season ahead.

A brilliant game from Smurf, who put in an outstanding performance throughout. His work rate, composure and contribution across the pitch made him a standout performer and thoroughly deserves PotM!”

Who’s excited for Sunday? I hope you are, as today the MHC ladies begin the new season with their very first match!

Travelling through to Aberdeen today we have a fabulous line up, our Captains are confident we’ll make a promising start this season.

We are excited to play with a strong and talented team today, best of luck to GCWH and we’ll see you on the pitch this afternoon for some great hockey!
