FULL TIME!!

What a game of football and what a win in the horrible wet conditions. It took just 4 minutes for us to take the lead through Craig Ellis. Some good play out wide and then Tommy played a lovely one two with Zac before drilling it across goal for Craig to run on to and slot into the bottom corner. 1-0. Mosset equalised on the 21st minute to make it 1-1 before getting in front on the 33rd minute. Their lead didnt last long as on 35 minutes Zac made it 2-2. Some excellent work by Zac whilst lying on the floor to keep the ball before getting it released to Craig who slipped Zac through on goal and he made no mistake (for a change😉) and smashed it past the keeper. On 41 minutes Craig restored the Thistle lead when Stewart won the ball on the edge of the box and played a lovely through ball for Craig to finish. Half time 3-2 Jags. Rhein replaces Aidan.

48 minutes and a long punt by Mosset slips past Sid for their player to pass into the empty net. 3-3. 74 minutes played and the manager makes a triple substitution with Smann, Gedd and Josh replacing Scross, Tommy and Ferg. One minute later and we go ahead 4-3. A quick break sees Zac play Stewart through and he ran out of legs so decided to just leather the ball and it goes past the keeper and in. Mosset ended the game with 10 as Ex Jag David Bromley got a double yellow on the 87th minute and shown to the dressing room.

Tonight we head through to Forres to take on Mosset in the Forres and Nairn District Welfare FA. The first meeting between the two sides since the Forres outfits return to the league and it sets up to be a cracker. Both teams sit on 10 points after 6 games played so the winner will take a 3 point advantage in the table.

Leading both our goalscoring and assists charts is striker Stewart McKenzie McLaren however we have a feeling its going to be a season where the name on the top of each list keeps changing. We have had 12 different scorers over the 9 games so far this season and that number will rise with boys eager to get themselves going for the season. 3 players with their first Elgin Thisle goals this season, Steve Sim, Brandon Tinley and Mikey Paterson 🙌hopefully more to come from you.

Full time and we are back to winnings ways tonight.

Vikings took the lead on the first minute when a ball that should have bounced harmlessly out for a goal kick somehow hit Sids shoulder and went for a corner. The deep ball was delivered in amd Vikings got a throw in and after a nice touch by the wide player they cut inside and scored. 1-0 Vikings. A few chances fell however we couldnt seem to take them, dont know if its the awful grass to blame or the strikers being pish.....lets go for the latter😉. Both sides were forced into a first half substitute when Mikey collided with one of their boys, Jason on to replace him in centre mid. Half time 1-0.

We started the second half well, again attacking without the end product. Tommy replaced Gedd on the hour mark and then after 64 minutes some nice play by The Jags out wide and Zac has some good footwork before laying the ball off for Stewart to cut inside onto his left foot and smash the ball past the keeper. 1-1. 78 minutes gone and we finally take a deserved lead, again some good play out wide before Craig cut the ball back to Stewart who cheekily dinked the ball over the on rushing keeper. Filth. After the goal and it was a triple substitution by the gaffer, Dan, Rod and Brandon replacing Ferg, Aidan and Zac.

The subs all played well when introduced and again we could have killed the game off with a few chances if it wasnt for a couple good saves or defensive work by the opposition.

Full time and it ends 2-1 Thistle!!

GAME DAY!!

Tonight we face Vikings in a rearranged fixture in the Forres and Nairn District Welfare FA league. The Jags are hoping to finish our chances this week and get the 3 points but know it wont be an easy game as Vikings are usually up for it against us. Vikings have the chance to leapfrog us in the table if they win so that is something the team will be hoping to avoid 🤞

Unfortunately for the second home game in a row, our pitch (Pinefield) is unplayable so we have to use the away teams 'home' pitch so tonight's venue is Doocot Park. I wont say too much on the conditions just yet but we don't hold high hopes😂 main thing is the game goes ahead ⚽️

This week we were due to face Fc Thistle in the league however due to their participation in the national cup it meant the game was postponed. Vikings game vs Riverside Thistle has also been postponed which gives us a chance to get our rearranged league match against them played this week.

The game will be on Friday 29th May with a 7.30pm kick off. We are still waiting to hear if the venue will be Doocot Park or Pinefield!

Full time!

Points shared through in Forres after we failed to put away chance after chance. The game should have been buried by half time.

It took just 3 minutes for Rod to open the scoring. A poor clearance by the goalkeeper landed at his feet 35 yards from goal and he hit it into an empty net. Zac, Craig, Josh and Tommy missed great chances to put us further ahead but we decided to forget that we are meant to hit the net. Carisbrooke had a good 15 minute spell and then equalised on the 33rd minute with a good counter attack. Half time 1-1.

Second half and it was the same story, failing to finish chances and in the end it cost us the points. We went 2-1 ahead on 69 minutes when Craig sent a ball out wide and Gedd did well to keep the ball in before laying it back for Mikey to take a touch and beat the keeper. 75 minutes gone and Brookie equalised again after a freekick got sent into the box where 4 players were stood on their own with no Jag in sight and one of them header past the goalkeeper. Again more chances at the end and I honestly dont know how we havent won the game (other than the obvious fact of not scoring more goals😂)
