We had .dracup in action today at the national golden gloves taking place in Motherwell.

Harris was drawn to box a semi-finalist from last years competition in what was Harris’ first attempt at this tournament and first bout of the season.

A back and forth contest, dead level going into the last round and just being pipped at the finish line to lose out on a narrow split decision, a few things to work on back in the gym and rebuild some momentum towards a busy second part of the season.

You have a great account of yourself today, with some valuable experience gained at this level and everyone at the gym is proud of you, onto the next one 🥊. Congratulations to his opponent Kaveh of .mxp and all the very best in the rest of the competition 🤝

A massive congratulations to the gyms who won gold today at the development championship finals in Motherwell 🥇.

Steven only just joined the gym and started working with head coach towards the latter months in 2025, in that short space of time Steven has had an amazing attitude in the gym and takes every opportunity he can to develop and work on himself and becoming a strong presence and valued member of our squad.

Today he was in the final of the 90kg development c category Scottish championships and scoring a stunning 1st round knockout to take the gold against his bigger opponent from Aberdeen. Excellent start in his first bout and competition with his new club and we look forward to watching you continue to grow, well done champ

Wasn’t to be for our Danny at today’s championship semi-finals, a close bout with the 2 boys but the decision going the way of the Broadwood boxer.

Danny looking to land counters at range and inside but the front foot boxer in the corner doing enough over the 3 tight rounds to get the decision. Back to the gym with the things to work on for our Danny and congratulations and good luck to Kyle in his final tomorrow

Been a busy past week for our GB and Scottish champion Rory who had his first outings of the 25/26 boxing season.

The other week we travelled down to Dumfries for an exhibition with the heavyweight eastern district and Robert burns box cup champion from Chirnside on the Nith Valley show an excellent display from both lads with something fresh to think about.

6 days later this Friday just past we were through in wishaw for the Shire show and Rory was in with the western district champion from Rob Roy who also was at the GB’s in summer.

Some invaluable ring time for Rory to work on some new things in the ring ahead of his next outing which will be for the national team 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 in a couple weeks time against England down in Newcastle

We had a debut for Antonio this afternoon on the Chirnside show down the borders in an exhibition with a fellow unboxed home boxer. It was 1/4 final day of the development championships through in Motherwell today. Both boys who won yesterday back in action, 71kg James up first for the gym in against another unbeaten lad and former winner of the competition, after a close first round and tactical adjustment James took more control of the contest using his range and timing to pick up another win and book his place in the next round. It was then on to the middleweight division and Chris in against a strong tall opponent from the west coast, relentless pressure again saw the referee draw an early conclusion to the contest in the 2nd to make it back to back stoppage wins in the competition for our Chris.

A good opening weekend for the gym, saw 4 championship contests and 4 wins and both lads book their place in next weekends semi-finals and will also be joined by Lera.
