On the road to early title favourites Blackburn this morning. A promising first half with both teams playing good football and defending well, with the scores 1 a piece going into the break.

The West Lothian outfit took their next 2 chances when we didn’t, and thereafter, we struggled to get back into the game. Two injuries to an already depleted squad that impacted the foothold we had in the game, and the hosts ran out comfortable winners in the end.

Parents’ MOTM: El Capitano pulled on the gloves in place of the absent Robert, and had a decent showing between the sticks. Shades of Craig Gordon with some quick reaction saves! Happy to take one for the team and lead by example like the strong captain he is 💪 Brilliant pal ❤️⚽️Harris too notably put in a big shift up top against Blackburn’s two resolute centre halves 👏

Well done to Olly who completed his S4 Work Experience with JP this week at Prestonfield Primary School. Olly has aspirations of being a PE teacher in the future 💪❤️ he was a credit to himself, his parents and his teachers at Newbattle HS. Well done pal 😎

Took us a while to stamp our authority on the game. Musselburgh were stubborn and did well to make it hard for us, particularly in the 1st half, but ultimately we progress to the next round. Some really well taken goals along the way.

Parents’ MOTM: Cathan Fallis - a brace which could well have been a hatrick. Posed a decent attacking threat and great to see him on the scoresheet accompanied by his first MOTM of the season 👏 Oliver and James just miss out on this occasion who both stood out in the 1st half.

🚨September’s Coaches’ Player of the Month: Cooper Adamson🚨

The start of the season has been competitive to say the least. A lot of tight games and physical battles where some results went our way and some didn’t. While results and performances have been up and down, Cooper has been a constant and was both coaches’ top picks for our first player of the month award for the 26/27 campaign!

Cooper never needs to be reminded about his attitude and application at training, and is always ready to put the graft in and give 110%. Cooper has been consistent across a number of games since the middle of August, even catching the eye of opposition and guest coaches on more than one occasion. We are now seeing Cooper add more of an attacking element to his game from his most frequent position at full back which is brilliant to watch!

Robbie and Alasdair were both in discussions as well with some terrific performances this season to date, but we couldn’t look past Cooper this time round and both strongly agree that he is deserving of this recognition. Outstanding Coops 💪❤️⚽️

Frustrating day which results in us exiting Scottish Cup in an early round for the 3rd successive season.

A positive opening 10 mins slowly deteriorated into a lethargic first half and we were unable to make the most of the downward slope as the game remained goalless going into the break.

Just couldn’t do the basics right in the 2nd half and Dalkeith took full advantage of the slope. Back down to earth with a bump after such a positive outcome last weekend. Sore one for sure and one we’ll need to try and put it right!

MOTM: Think it’s fair to say no one was at their best, but Oliver stood out for putting in a power of work off the ball and didn’t seem distracted by the gash in his knee which required treatment a couple of times during the match. Good for him to get a full game under his belt after a few weeks out in the summer. James picked up a few votes too 👍⚽️

After 4 successive home games to kick of the campaign, South welcomed a trip across Edinburgh for a predicted physical battle with Corstorphine Dynamo. The hosts had gotten the better of us in recent head to heads, including a pre-season tournament victory, thus Roma were motivated to put that right this afternoon.

A nip and tuck first half with the score 1 all going into the break. Neither side respectfully set the world alight in the opening 40, albeit the cross-field gale had a part to play in that.

The men in red kicked on in the final half hour and controlled the game from there on in and thankfully this week got their just rewards in front of goal and sealed an assured 5-1 victory.

Parents’ MOTM: Noah Elam - came on for the last half hour and wreaked havoc for the Dynamo back line. His pace and intent on the ball earned him 2 assists plus his first goal of the season ⚽️ Delighted for you pal 💪❤️ Lauchlan and Cooper in contention too with a mammoth effort across the 80 👍

A share of the spoils for Roma at the new Liberton Community Campus. The hosts found themselves 2-0 and 3-2 up respectively by HT, but a single North Berwick goal in the 2nd 40 earned them a point to take back down the road.

A competitive and physical game that turned into a real battle. We felt like we had to work harder for our goals and allowed the borders outfit back into the game. 4 league games in, and there’s certainly no mugs in this 2nd division.

Parents’ MOTM: Alasdair MacLeod - a vocal and hearty performance in the centre of the pitch. Ran his socks off alongside Declan and Oliver for most/all of the game ❤️⚽️
